Electric Windows and Electric Door Mirrors not working

Featured Replies

Hi

I’m looking for some help, both the front electric windows and electric door mirrors have stopped working on my 2010 1.9TDi Fabia 3 at the same time.

Here is what I know

  • Fuse OK, has been checked and also swapped out
  • Windows don’t work with any switch driver or passenger side
  • Windows do work when putting key in door lock and turning left and right. Windows go all the way down and all the way back up again
  • Neither of the door mirrors will move when using adjusting switch
  • Funnily enough demist does work when turned to demist

Anyone able to offer any advice before I start taking off door panels etc.

If you search the forum for window issues there are lots of threads on just this problem. Most people seem to find broken wires in the flexi rubber boot between the door and pillar I believe. I think you can pull this out without any tools but you should check first of course.

Thanks Wonky

wires break easily but can be rejoined with those little plastic encased electric connecters with a screw each end to hold the wires.

Problem solved

Clean break on blue/black wire inside door boot.

Soldered up and heatshrink on to cover, took longer to get the boot off than to do the repair.

Good to hear and thanks for updating, it is a great help to others.

Just sorted my 2008 fabia that had the same symptoms, broken red with white tracer wire in the drivers door loom boot (into chassis plug) soldered an extra piece of wire in (10mm) to hopefully prevent from happening again too soon.
