How do you rate Mitchell's ?

JKW

It's an interesting idea - It'd be really useful to have a searchable area for people to post up info about their old cars to help other members.

I found a webpage for this http://www.drivearchive.co.uk/ but it doesn't appear that google is indexing it (or certainly didn't come up when I googled a couple of reg plates off it).

I went to Mitchell's as I had seen them recommended on here, and they were recommended by a member at a Briskoda meet. They were friendly, no complaints. When I first went it to get a valuation I ended up dealing with the dealer manager who was very friendly and transparent. When I went back to hand the car back, the first salesman tried to convince me to VT my PCP, which I didn't want to do, so I ended up back with the manager. They didn't try and knock the valuation of my car down for stupid reasons and were very fair. I'd use them again if I were buying a new Skoda.

I notice you are in Cheadle, I wouldn't use Robert Eardleys, either in Stoke or Crewe.

I didn't know if it'd be worth it, but I thought it might be useful to someone. I like the idea of that website, it would make it easier to find information of cars you're thinking of buying, but of course it would need updating...

I asked because of my previous experience with Robert Eardley's (utter cr*p IMO), especially regarding their After Sales Service, and my more recent dealings with Mitchell's, who I've found to be first class in every respect - I now happily travel the 55 miles each way to Mitchell's to get the customer service that every Skoda dealership should provide, which Mitchell's do in abundance.

Eardley's loss is Mitchell's gain, as I've had my last 2 services with them, & collect my new car also  from them next week, never to darken Eardley's doorstep again !

Seems a tad dangerous to me, why would you want a car that could easily be looked up (cloned?) on the internet based on its age and colour. I'd abhorr the idea of it being out there all over pages.

Maybe thats me being a tad overnervous, but even when posting pics of my car online I tend to want to obfuscate the plate. Even though anyone, anytime driving with you during the day could see it !

But isn't that the point there is only a small % of people that see my footprint of being around them and exposed to them and the chances of them being criminally interested in me is even more remote. But the amount of scumbags that also could easily have access to the internet and its "infinite footprint".

Bad idea from me, sorry.

I bought my car from Mitchells, really pleased with the whole process with them.

The car originally came from Robert Eardley's. They were pretty good when I ordered the car, a bit rubbish when it was delayed, and then even worse when it was delivered. They left the transport blocks in a front shock absorber, but wouldn't pay to have the tracking checked despite me saying it had bottomed out a few times. They did replace the torn gaiter for free though. I've taken it to another local dealer with good reviews for servicing, but thought I'd give Mitchells a go.

No worries, I can see your logic. But this isn't my car anymore, and even before I sold it there were pictures of in online. The pictures above are the dealers.

Agreed, I have been pleased with how this went too.

I don't see it as a danger tbh. If I was in the business of cloning plates, I'd be on AutoTrader where I'd have access to thousands of makes, models and colours of car. Not wasting my time trawling an owners forum in the hope of finding a plate to clone.
