2014 Octavia vRS front seat foam/fabric problems

Featured Replies

Does anyone else have a problem with their front vRS seats? My two year old, 36,000 car is in excellent condition apart from the fact that the passenger seat has two indented tram lines in the foam which are getting worse. The driver's seat has pulled fabric on the leading front edge which is deteriorating. Both issues look like manufacturing faults from new and these issues make the car look very second hand! I have lodged a Warranty claim with Skoda UK...

Did you purchase the car from new?

If not has the previous owner had a child seat on the passenger seat which has caused the tramlines?

Not really mate mine are pretty okay, don't have the issues you describe but they annoy me as being a bit low rent for this car anyway.

Worth changing or trimming anyway IMO.

Recaro wingbacks are nice but £2k isn't lol. Maybe alcantara retrim would be nice or something ?

If you can dismantle the seats to the fabric and take into somewhere might be only £200 for fronts and probably a lot nicer than the originals.

Tempted but not brave enough at the moment lol with still under warranty.

Might be on a bit of a backfoot with a warranty on seats TBH.....as seats are so prone to wear it would be very easy argument on their side unless you can demonstrate the opinion of an upholstery expert to provide evidence of upholstery anomolies versus normal wear n tear

Good luck either way. Mine are tidy so I'm thinking of maybe hopefully either trading with someone selling a car with the full leather - who doesn't mind selling standard seats ( their incentive is standing to make more money than the car with existing seats ).

- or acquiring a purchase of decent seats then selling mine to achieve the same goal.

To be honest you could do similar as some of the Fabia boys could be quite keen to get these style seats and overlook a bit of wear but then you have to have something else lined up to replace them.

Got quote from seat surgeons only ( front seats ) IRO £500 ish if this helps

If I happened to go this route then I guess I could potentially sell my (closer to perfect) covers if I could get them to carefully remove them - but not even sure what they would be worth to sell ?

- But I think they'd be worth to me £150 alone in fairness - just in case I ever wanted to sell and could sell on the leather covers to get my money back.

They be a lot more expensive than that to get from Skoda as would complete vRS seats so just chucking up an idea but the suggested value reflects my lack of keeness about it.

31 months and 27k, mine are top jolly, no issues whatsoever.

Thanks for telling me about yours - which makes me sure that my seats have manufacturing faults...

Manufacturing problem. Some cars have no bother with the seats so owners say and some such as mine are wearing prematurely and mine is the fake leather.

Some cars appear better built than others, quality can be very very hit and miss.

I am having the exact issue on my vrs on 55,000 km. How did you go with warranty?
