;)

They've been selling very similar devices on AliExpress for over a year, my issue is that it blocks up the lighter port, I have several power leads running from mine via an extension lead, so this form factor isnt suitable for me - and probably others as well.

I used to have the original 3 MiFi tucked into the top box on the dash, but the signal reception wasnt that good, so I eventually ditched it.

I found that PCWorld were selling off some EE Osprey MiFi with a big lump of data for 12 months - the inferred use was for a student living away from home (strange, both my daughter's either lived in student halls with WiFi or lived in rented houses/flats and organised their own internet access).  Anyway, as MIL was having surgery and wife and her sister would be taking turns to live with her over a longish period, I thought that this MiFi would keep both wife and SIL connected via their iPads - so I bought it!  Well, buggar me, did MIL not just go and buy an iPad, so needed to bother someone into letting her have one of their old wifi routers!  So that left my £75(?) MiFi with lots of data without a use, we do take it with us when away for days, but as we seem to end up in remote places, mobile phone coverage is not good so MiFi not good, and places we stay at have wifi - oh bother, it is only money after all! One situation MiFi is good for is, just after you have moved house and internet/phone supplier is being stupid, as happened to a friend who sold his house, moved into a rented house and is building a new house. New buyer who ran a business, ended up grabbing control of his phone and internet access BEFORE he moved out, which was annoying and not handy as he was using it a lot in connection with new build plans, so he grabbed an EE Osprey and got back line again, just as well as EE or someone messed up reconnecting his phone at the rented house and missed the point that internet access was also required for his account (work at local exchange) - that took about 6 weeks, so MiFi earned its keep and continues to do so at the site of his new build house for contacting planners design people and supplies.

Exactly what happened to us with BT at our last place. Till a couple of emails to Executive Office Complaints began to have the desired effect, I got a long USB lead and an o2 dongle and hung it out of a dormer window. Did the job, and I still have it somewhere, but I was still glad when our fibre service was finally connected.
