Head spinning.Sounds like a nice figure to me though

OK Guy's Heres the easy solution to working out VAT

Simply divide the VAT included price by 1.175 to get your pre vat price. Note when the government decide to fleece us further in the future the formula will still work.

EG 18.5% Vat = Divide by 1.185

OK kids stop bickering at the back and thats the end of todays lesson!

That's what i said

He started it ....

:D

Times figure by 7,divide by 47 gives you vat element?

Just buy the car!!

That's what i said

:D

No you didnt! You said divide by 117.5 and multiple by 100!

Guys

There is ... a 3rd way

To work the car price without VAT / 1.175 ie say

What about - 17.5, then hit % button on the calculator? :D Oh, then hit = button?

Nope, just realised thats wrong as its taking 17.5% of the whole sum, not adding 17.5% on to the net. Dividing by 1.175 is my usual tactic when faced with a receipt in work I can claim VAT on and its not broken down (e.g. supermarket receipt for washing up liquid, car parking (sometimes) & quick hand written VAT receipts). mY usual tactic, is take the whole, divide by 1.175, then subtract the total which gives me the VAT (as a minus, but you ignore that :D)

At the end of the day 16K is a good price ok 2nd hand car, and yes it might get trashed to hell but its a performace car and if it couldnt take a little trashing its a crap car not worth having and your never going to trash it??.

But as we owners know skoda's arent crap, well built, solid and safe and you can get the kids in, what more do you want??. If i could afford id go for one without thinking, so i say DEAL wiwout a dout.

Not trying to bump this thread but thought you might like to know that its ......................................DEAL!. Pick up new vRS next Saturday although SWMBO doesn't and won't know this until the day, gulp!. As far as the deal is concerned, let's just say that I think it's a corker. I'm Mr. very happy!!! :D :D :D :D

Nice, they let a demo go that early!

Top Deal, I think if I was offered the same I would say YES.

I am not test driving the new one on purpose because I WILL want one.

Hope the wife's OK with it, if not at least you can drive the car round with a big smile on your face until she starts talking to you again:thumbup:

SWMBO's found the receipt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , like a total doghnut I left all my paperwork in my filing cabinet and the nosy bint's only gone and stumbled upon it. The air has been blue for a while in this house but after much discussion and persuasion I have managed to convince her that what I have been offered is a corker of a deal that would be daft to turn down, so much for the surprise! ;) . Only other thing to report is that I can't pick up car on Saturday :( , something to do with releasing a demo too early but I am now picking up next Wednesday 1st Feb, will post some pics later.

This is spot on. When I was selling cars this is how the trade works out the VAT on cars, simply divide by 1.175. It
