Compatability with VAG parts

Featured Replies

Hi guys

So the O3 uses the new MBQ platform and shares a lot of the engines and sub-frames and things with the Golf, A3 and Leon (I think). I've seen a good few posts here cross-referencing the Golf for technical questions too. Does anyone know just how interchangeable the parts are on these?

Is it possible, for example to uprate breaks/turbo/etc with stuff found on the S3 or Golf R for instance?

Yes, many are interchangeable, but you need to be more specific if you are looking for confirmation on a particular part. Wheels are generally the same fitment as current Golfs for example, and back as far as the MK5. (5x112 PCD, but offsets vary so will differ in the amount they "stick out" of the wheel arches.)

There are no specific parts in particular that I was thinking of. This was more of a general question out of interest.

Pretty much anything is possible, from LED number plate lights to entire engines. Check out 'BossFox's Yeti RS thread in Yeti projects for proof... :D

Theoretically anything is doable, but you'd have to decide whether it's worth it, or would you be better off with an upgraded aftermarket part anyway.

I see my father-in-law's MY16 Golf 1.4TSI 125BHP has normal looking front suspension drop links, where as my MY Octy 1.4TSI 150BHP has droplinks made from pressed steel.

The Golf ones look like they would be stiffer.
