I can see your thinking, and remind me when I'm looking for a car to buy from you :p

Also many thanks for the response on the engine cleaning.

No worries glad to be of help, The queue of people wanting to purchase my next car is getting longer LOL.

I have sold quite a few cars recently without even advertising them :)

  • 25/10/16...   Well what a fantastic day!   Nice early start, Set off around 6.30AM this morning and began the journey down the M1 to Hinckley from Sheffield. Pulled of at Junction 23 and filled up

  • 4/9/16...   Well the Civic went yesterday morning, I renewed the Insurance policy for another Year and put the Golf on. Taxed it this morning and gave it a final quick wash and second coat of Collin

  • Did I mention that I am taking the car to R-Tech tomorrow? Just incase I have not mentioned it before..... Yes I am a little exicted!

Only just stumbled across this thread. Man i miss my Eddie :( Genuinely the best car ive ever owned and regretted selling the most, they just do everything so well. Yours looks like a stunning example too, not many nice ones left now.

Thank you, Not many good ones at all. Yes they are nice cars! Mine is possibly going to its new owner at the beginning of December so a replacement will be on the cards.

 24/11/16...

Probably One of the last updates I will be making on this thread, Looks like the Golf will be going to its new owner on the 2/12/16 which is a Week Tomorrow/Next Friday. He is travelling up on the Train and I would be surprised if he makes the journey back without buying the Golf.

The car has been/Is still fantastic, Not done a thing to it since the Re-Map (Not that the car has needed anything as I went a bit crazy in the first Month)

Nearly 3 Months since I did the 20 Hour detail and the car was still looking fresh but the Wax was ready for a top up especially now that Winter is upon us. Spent about 6 Hours on the car today and finished using Poorboys Black Hole and Dodo Juice Purple Haze Wax...

Couple of pics for you guys...

So.... What's next?  :)

So.... What's next?   :)

Possibly another Mk6 Golf R but in DSG flavour this time, MK7 Golf R's are growing on me but I am not sure I like them enough to want to sink £25K of my savings into buying one.

I'm very interested in seeing what happens to the Mk7 R market, given the amount of them on fairly cheap leases :)

I certainly wouldn't be buying one outright, at this moment in time.

Totally agree!

Also that is also one of my worries, Buying a 15 Plate one for £25K and then when the time comes for me to sell it the market is saturated with them with all the Lease deals that have come to the end of their 2/3 Year terms and so the re-sell value takes a massive hit!

With that in mind even though I have the budget to get one now I might wait another Year or so and keep my eye on the market, Once they take that next drop in price and are 3-4 Years old and probably sub £20K I can probably justify buying one.

My other concern is that I am very picky with the 7R and regards to Spec, It would have to be Tornado Red, Lapiz Blue or Limestone Grey. Needs to be DSG with 19" Pretoria's and ideally with Leather. Most cars on the market are Manual with Cloth seats and the horrible 18" Cadiz Alloys.

I still think that the MK6 Golf R is a better looking car though

There is something about the Mk6 :) - agree with you about the Mk7 R spec as well. The Cadiz design is appalling in my mind and lacks any form of decent design.

Still not tempted enough by an M135i and a brief foray with a non-VAG German manufacturer? :D

I could take it or leave it with regards to the M135I, The more I look at them the more I find the styling a bit bland and the same goes for the interior. The RWD also Concerns me a bit if I am honest, Plus the fact I know very little about the 3.0 Straight 6 Turbo engine either.

I am sure they are a very good car, From what I have read they need an LSD fitting to bring out the best though.

I think you would be in the same boat with the M135i as you would be with the Golf R, the fact you can get them on "fairly" cheap lease deals means the market will become saturated with them in a couple of years or so.

I would have the BMW as I prefer the straight six over the 4 pot, I just think the engine itself has more character, but in the same vein the big six will be more expensive to repair and with the twin turbos as well.

Agreed over the styling as well, the Golf R looks nicer in both mk6 and mk7.

So long, farewell.....

Looking forward to the next installment :D
