Any ideas what the differences are between the Admunsen and the Admunsen+?

 

 

Main difference is that some Amundsen+ (RNS315) units have bluetooth or DAB built in. No Amundsen (RNS310) units do.

 

They also take different maps:

- Amundsen maps were on CD until ~2012, since then they are on SD card which needs to be left in for navigation to work. 

- Amundsen+ are on single use SD card and are copied to the internal storage. Once copied an SD containing music can be inserted.

Mine does seem like it should have DAB... but it doesn't...  :wonder:

The RNS310 had very basic mapping, no total route map etc which the RNS315 did have. I had an RNS310 in a 2009 Passat Highline Plus - the worst built in sat nav system I've ever had unfortunately.

Is that Bluetooth OR DAB, not both?

 

My 2013 SE+ "Ambition" has an Amundsen, the sat nav runs when mp3 files on the SD card are played, does that make it a + model? it isnt DAB. Car has a satnav sharkfin

If you can use satnav with no SD card or CD present, it's the Amundsen+

Some Amundsen+ version support DAB where as others don't.

 

The best way to check is to look for a black fakra connector on the rear. If it has one, it supports DAB, if it doesn't, you're out of luck.
