Disappointing RR Results

Featured Replies

Just been to Awesomes RR and got the following results:

At the wheels: 113whp and 220ft.lb's

126hp at the clutch.

This is dissapointing from my PD100 considering it has a dragon digital on it and a green filter, I was hoping for closer to 130/140.

I am wondering if it is possible there's an accuracy problem with the RR. I know for a fact that it does 30-70 in 3rd in 7.3s, which I believe is comparable or slightly faster than a standard Furby vRS. Well, vRS's are supposed to be 130 or even 140 standard? Me confused. Is it possible that the RR is really that far out? Or is 126 at the fly actually considered a 'likely figure' for a PD100 with the above mods? :(

I think it sounds about right mate.

I'd be pretty happy with those figures!

Dragon reckon on a bout 30% extra so not far off

Don't forget a lot of peole will over quote a bit on power gains.... its called marketing!!

As its a PD100 and you have 126hp and 220 lbs, I think you've done ok, those numbers are fairly respectable!

:)

How long have you had the dragon box on the car....days, weeks or months ......unlike a remap which is instant the effects of a dragon box are built up as the ecu learns what it is doing and adjusts ......mine always took a good 4 to 5 weeks to get to maximum effect.........

I'd take any RR results with a pinch of salt, imo RR's should only be used as a tuning aid and to show power before and after mods.

What did it RR before and mods?? ;)

Were others at the day pleased/disappointed in general?

Im sure it doesnt take me 7.3 seconds to get from 30 to 70 in my standard vrs

Nope - me neither.

I've followed you for 20 odd miles. It's quick in real world terms, that's all that matters.

Awesome's rollers are still new and recently calibrated. IIRC they are near unique in the UK, previously the domain of top flight motorsport sites. I'd trust these figures more than others.

Any figure you are quoted by a tuner or "product" I half as a rule of thumb.

Of course, the halving rule of thumb depends on the tuner!

I doubt very much the AMD one-click only offers a 15bhp gain!

you should try the magic tree air freshener mate, its amazing :D

I got one in ice cream flavour it was lovely, like you the results were instant.

Most people are unhappy at being misled about HP figures, use this set as a baseline for the next mod, but once you start modding keep going back to the same set of rollers.

Could have been worse your WHP figure is good think what it'd have been like if you had 50bhp drag losses like most other rollers.

The only thing I can't work out on Awesomes rollers are the really low drivetrain losses, which I've never seen on any other set of rollers.

The flywheel bhp looks fine from most of the results I've seen, but the whp looks a lot higher than I'd have expected.

maybe they are just more accurate?

This is a serious forum and topic. Off topic posts moved to a separate thread here.

That's the thing though, rollers measure torque and rpm which makes bhp at the wheels.

The flywheel figure is calcualted by coasting the car to a stop to work out the drive train losses.

This we know.

The thing that I can't figure out is why the whp figures are higher than everywhere else, but the flywheel figures are right.

This can't be down to accuracy... It's just so different!

so if the pd100 is 100 flywheel horsepower then when you take transmission loss off then your box and filter have given you the 30% increase which is good.

rollers are a black art...

remember my figs from Dubsport years back.. allegedy I have one of the few 20v Turbos that produced peak power @ 4700rpm... which given mine redlined @ 8k i find a little optomistic...

but it didnt have the air freshner in.

126bhp from a box alone is pretty good. Assuming you have standard other bits, Jabbasport's custom remap got me 147bhp, so its not that much less really. :)

Full blown state of the art dynojet setup at awesome, I would say a very accurate setup indeed.

This was posted a while back, but may help explain things yashi'

That's 147 Jabba bhp though ;)

126 bhp is approx 25-30% increase Dragon claim so sounds fine to me....

Chris

Sounds about right to me. I got 163bhp at the fly and 150whp.
