Another boxy crossover! The new Pug 5008

Featured Replies

So it is not just the Yeti anymore with a boxy rear end! Bucking the trend Peugeot can only be applauded for this design. But I still can't live with those dials over the top of the steering wheel. In all their other versions of that I simply cannot see all the information I need to see when the seat is where i want. The interior does look very space age though. I like it apart from the dials.

Ah, there you go

My shoulders like the wheel-in-the-lap and now hope it'll survive.

I seem to recall seeing a flip up steering wheel once which, for some, might make entry/exit easier.

As I get older I get the impression refocusing takes a fraction longer which is why I like the HUD approach, not that I spend much time checking the speedo as I tend to use the excellent cc system.

Looks like a CRV, Sportage, any number of other crossover type 4x2 boxes

Shmell of rav4 or landcruiser off it from where im sitting.

I just cant like peugots, no matter what they do with them

Bit like Vx just can't see the reason to choose one. No USP with them nothing stand out, automotive potatoes

Off today to order myself a new Seat Alhambra if i can get a dirty diesel / dsg one while they still build them and they are much cheapness.

The ultimate boxy with usable & practical space vehicle i can find out of the current selection of vehicles on the market.

Interior looks and quality are paramount for me. I can't abide ugly interiors and that's why I wouldn't buy French again. After all the interior is where you see most of the car!

We've got one on order. I did wonder if they were about to release a new one or stop building them, as there are some really good deals on them!

you also have the Kia Niro if you fancy a cross over style hybrid a little bigger than a Yeti

not quite as boxy as the yeti or 5008, but good MPG and lots of toys (except 4WD)

It has good headline mpg. Not so good when you stick on 18" wheels though and this "UK specification vehicles have no towing capacity" , all these hybrids mpg data should be looked at sceptically as once the batteries are empty (which doesn't happen in the official tests) you are basically driving a heavy 1.6 petrol.

It's ok though no one ever drives a car outside a lab.

My MIL got a petrol 4x4 Kia Sportage and insisted that it would reach the paper figure of 45mpg because the salesman said it would. I actually managed not to laugh when she told me.

3 months of 22-25mpg it was traded back in.

That wasn't even a hybrid with their nonsense figures.

Autoexpress on the Mitsubishi Phev - paper figure = 148mpg, actual average = 43mpg.

My local Seat dealer appears to have had a very successful launch weekend for the new Ateca.

I heard they did very well with orders taken from customers for new cars.

its french.... avoid....

Seeing floor pans are the basis of new models, would the Kodiaq 'pan' be an indicator of a new Alhambra etc.

Deals tend to be to get rid of slow moving stock prior to an all new model which they try to keep secret.

Would the Alhambra be offered with the engine of he Golf GTD?!

A 'clean' GTD engine........I'd love to see that!

I'm now much more influenced by the L/100km these days and that's why I'm perfectly happy with FWD versions with better ground clearance........but there was a time when 6/7 seat options were highly desirable. 4 is enough for us these days.

Yeah maybe, it's funny that we are getting an Alhambra, I'd mentioned them to my mrs loads of times over the last few years and she turned her nose up at them. We went to see a Ford Grand C max but the dealer messed us around, so rather than waste a trip we popped into the SEAT dealer next door, second she looked inside she was hooked lol.

The Salesperson i ordered with had 28 on the list for new builds.

Many might be getting ordered on Motability due to the 150 ps DSG SE Lux being only a £1099 deposit.

(20,000 miles a year mileage allowance with a lease from Motability, no VED to pay, no Insurance to pay, no servicing either.)

The S 150 ps DSG which is very basic is £499 deposit.

Other models are quite a bit more expensive deposits than a SE Lux which really is rather well finished with plenty bells and whistles and electrics to go wrong.
