Bluetooth hands free VRS

Featured Replies

So got the new VRS estate today and it is awesome. However. It doesn't appear to have any bloodroots connection or phone option in the menu. Can this be retro fitted or is it worth going with a parrot instead

If you have the Swing stereo, you'll need to replace that if you want to have OEM Bluetooth options.

3 options really;

Upgrade to Amundsen/+ (RNS310 or 315) that will either have Bluetooth built in depending on the model, or you can fit a Bluetooth module separately.

3rd option is to fit a Columbus (RNS510) and fit a Bluetooth module.

Superb mate. That was my thinking. Just didn't know if you need amundson to do it. There's a couple on fleabay atm I'll have a look at them. Cheers

You need an Amundsen Plus unit to have any chance of Bluetooth built in, and only some of them actually have it. The standard Amundsen unit doesn't have Bluetooth at all. Last time I looked I found an Amundsen Plus with Bluetooth for about £340 on Ebay, that was the cheapest I could find.

My Mk2 Fabia vRS had Swing Radios and there was Bluetooth as factory fitted.

Ooh that sounds promising. There isn't option for phone in the option menu tho so I presumed there was no Bluetooth module fitted. It does have the controls on the wheel for the phone and stereo but no connections seem to be available

Look under the drivers seat and see if there's a Bluetooth box there.

And if there isn't. Can you get them ?

I'm thinking the head unit in mine is the poverty pack as it doesn't even have skoda auto or swing written on it ????

And if there isn't. Can you get them ?

Yep, fairly simple retrofit.

World class. What would I google or eBay search. ?? Fabia Bluetooth module ??

There's a whole world of different modules, some which are too old really and others which are fine. The subject has been done many times, most recently in this thread. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/409796-more-bluetooth-issues/. Then you'll need a loom and microphone, something like this. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/401185031723

However, I'm unsure what will work with your head unit rather than a Columbus touch screen, so some investigation would be needed.

I have the Amundsen + in mine it all depends what extra's yours was ordered with

Cracking choice on the Estate thou

Only just brought it, As far as I can make out the extras are, variable boot floor, led drl's, heated seats, extended warrantee, but nothing as far as stereo upgrades. Think I'll end up going down the amundson route but I'll try find a complete on with gps antenas and Bluetooth module

I fitted a 5K0 module to our Fabia II FL. I had the module already and bought a £50 harness. All lives under the swing headunit as just enough space.

Someone on here kindly coded for me so could use it with the maxidot.

Took me around 30 minutes to fit due to running cables up to headlining.

Ah mate that's spot on. Have you got a link for the harness and what's the 5k0 module. Is that a skoda part or after market ?

Yea estate was the only option as we have 2 kids. We also have a mk3 VRS Octavia too. So that's 2 estates on the drive. No arguments now as to who takes what car where lol

Skoda Module type: 5K0035730D. Does hands free profile only. If you want rSAP and HFP with WiFi hotspot you'll want 3C8035730E

Should be somewhere between £100 and £200 for a module.

Or for £215 with cables and connectors you need: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OEM-VW-Skoda-Bluetooth-module-9W4-3C8035730-E-kit-for-RNS-RCD-510-310-with-Wi-Fi-/291670227355?hash=item43e8e6799b:g:pcQAAOSwpRRWpyk~

It really is very easy to do. Cable goes between headunit and radio, route cables, code and voila.

Mate you are a legend thank you... I'll get into that at some point soon. Got the H&R springs to do this week once the arrive

So does that Bluetooth unit just plug into the swing unit.

Do you have maxidot in your instrument cluster?

  • Author

Which one is the Maxidot mate. This Maxidot thing has always baffled me.

  • Author

Sorry to sound baffled. I am dead technically minded and understand all the techy and greasy stuff but I'm fairly new to the whole vw/skoda/Audi stuff. All my previous vehicles have been fiat and eyetalians stuff so know those inside out haha
