I don't mind spending a few quid if it does the job, i dont have much experience with car cleaning products, this is the first motor i have really looked after. Is there a wax that does protdction and extreme gloss? The meguiars stuff seems to be good.

Changed the front end and another quick wash this weekend

Yes - the megiuars range is pretty decent i have heard - not sampled their waxes personally tho.

 

Wax wise - i would suggest Finishkare FK1000P as a good option for anyone.

Great protection, awesome gloss.... can be used on paint, alloys, exhaust tips etc.

Collinite is one of my favourites easy on, easy off brings up a really glossy shine on my Fab and best of all 2 coats will last you the Winter easily.

The two product go hand in hand together plus you get a couple of cloths and applicator pads. The reviews speak for themselves and it's been my go to product for the last 3-4 years and I've still got loads left it seems to last forever.

Finish Kare 1000p is also a great versatile product I just personally think collinite edges it.

The above two are excellent, but I'll throw Bilt Hamber Double Speed-Wax into the mix. The FK 1000p is great (I have it for the alloys) but it's a purely synthetic sealant. For the same money (£15 for a 250ml tin) you can get the BH DSW, which is a hybrid wax. That means it has synthetic polymers for hardness and longevity (it's also insanely detergent proof), but also a good dollop of T1 carnauba wax for depth and that warm glow. You can't go wrong with any of them tbf.

 

Whichever you choose, I'd advise a pre-wax cleanser/polish like BH Cleanser Fluid or Dodo Lime Prime. It'll get the last bits of crud off the paint (oils, residues, minor swirls) and give a great surface for maximum bonding from the wax. Give a second (and maybe a third if you like) coat (with 24 hours between them) to make sure it gets you through the winter. You want to apply the wax, whatever it is, absolutely as thinly as possible. You will only need to wipe the surface of the wax with your applicator pad (or even just touch it) and that will give you enough wax to do almost half a bonnet. Seriously.

 

Once you've used a good wax you'll never go back. It's a disease... haha

Vic's Concours is lovely, Pete's 53 i was less amazed by personally - but i didnt test on black.

I would go for poorboys black hole glaze, then topped over with Nattys paste wax.

Both products do a great job and are not too expensive. I find thes products
