The central locking was intermittent, and sometimes the whole system would go into a loop with all the doors locking and unlocking.

Temporary fix was to take out the fuse, but the interior lights and fuel flap are on the same one.

Turned out there were three big connectors plus a rear screen-wash hose behind a panel inside the tailgate on the near side. The hose had been leaking and the connectors were under water and corroded away. Replaced the whole lot with bullet connectors, cable ties round the hose connectors, and supported all the wires higher up in case of a future leak.

Sorry if this is a repeat, but I couldn't find any other reference to it.

Common porblem the leaking skoosher pipes. Potential problem with cable tying the joints together is if there is ever a blockage or perhaps frozen pipe, the pressure that would normally pop the joints open will have nowhere to go and could rupture in not so easily accessible places. 

Good shout on raising the wiring though. i don't know what they were smoking when they decided to run water pipes next to the electrics.

 

Also check under the roof bar drains for cracks, I have hairline cracks under them that drip water to the cd changer. Another job on the never ending vrs repair list.
