When keyless ignition fails due to low keyfob battery

Featured Replies

My wifes 2015 Fabia has push button ignition, but recently she saw a warning "low keyfob battery" . Is there a way of starting the car in the event that a keyfob battery fails? I have seen various videos showing how to do this on other makes, but none on Skoda. (I will of course change the battery, but it would be nice to know for a future "emergency").

You push the button with the keyphobe.

Thanks SamiS

You push the button with the keyphobe.

I don't understand personally.

You put the key right up against the button -- and push the button with the top of the key - it is in the manual (page 93 on the June 2016 version of handbook - P.104 in Nov 2015 version ... the DRIVING chapter).

Guessing that puts the immobilizer chip right against the sensor in the button (like it would be, in a regular key when it's actually in the ignition switch).

Never tought about this, but how do you get in the car, when the battery dies? There is no key lock.

Page 160 in the June 2016 version of the English Hand-book - under the section "Do it yourself" ....

The driver's door can be emergency unlocked / emergency locked using the key via the lock cylinder.

Pull on the door handle and hold.

Insert the key into the recess on the lower side of the cover and fold up the

cover in the direction of arrow » Fig. 193. Release the door handle.

For vehicles with LHD,insert the key with the fold-out key bit with the but- tons facing upwards » Fig. 193into the lock cylinder and unlock/lock the vehi- cle.

For vehicles with RHD, insert the key with the fold-out key bit with the but- tons facing downwards into the lock and unlock/lock the vehicle.

Pull on the door handle and hold. Replace the cover
