As per title - I don't think I'll need updates for 2014 Superb so VCP should be enough ??

Updates are not just for newer cars, it can take a while for new things to become code-able on older cars too.

 

As for VCP or VCDS? VCP (not used it personally) is more complex and will let you do slightly more than VCDS.... BUT because of this it is easier to make your car an expensive ornament! the support on VCP is also nowhere near as good as VCDS and a lot of it is apparently in German.
