free 6-month health check

Featured Replies

Hi, My Octavia has a free 6-month health check soon, do they do anything other than check the oil ?   K

They check what you would check if you were going on holiday with the car.

Oil, screen wash, tyres, etc etc and you'll get a loverly sheet of A4 paper with loads of ticks on

They check to see if there's anything they can charge you for, such as a screenwash refill, new wiper blades as "They're splitting a little.", brake pads as they're getting low, "Your front tyres are getting close to the legal limit sir, we can fit you two new ones.". And all sorts of other stuff they think they can get away with.

After 6 months ?

Any opportunity, yes.

Another one to watch out for is "one of your indicator bulbs is dimmer than the other".

Every service I get that, and every MoT it passes without a comment about lights or bulbs.

"one of your indicator bulbs is dimmer than the other".

   That's a new one on me!

While they are checking your car, they'll ask you to wander around the showroom, and see if they can sell you a new car without increasing your monthlies.

Before you know it the original statement has been lost & the new monthly figure is 'only a little more' ;)

Anything free is an attempt to sell something. It it ain't broke don't fix it.
