Carista?

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

I have purchased an ELM adapter and I will soon be receiving my MK3 Monte Carlo.

Has anyone here used the Carista app with success? I would like to enable hill hold and all the other goodies but want to make sure it is safe to use the application/ adapter.

Many thanks

  • That is good news, I got the same message this evening when I fired it all up. Shot a message over with a screen shot of the message etc... and sent all my debug info so hopefully that will all go tow

  • So, gave it another go tonight as another beta has been released. Can confirm that locking doors if key is outside the car works 100%. Also the acoustic confirm when locking/unlocking is also working.

  • For anyone that was having trouble with setting fogs as coming / leaving lights and having both fogs and low beam come on, I can confirm that this has been fixed in the latest beta.    This

I think that you will need to wait some time before Carista covers this model, sorry!

Website seems to suggest it will work. V3 is now live. I selected 2016 fabia in the car menu and nothing popped up to say it wouldn't work.

Well that is good news - I hope, I knew that V3 was being launched in September, but I thought that there was nothing for this platform on that update. I am on their list for news letters etc and seem to remember getting that info about what V3 covered, maybe time to go and see if I can update Carista on my iPhone, they do seem to be very vague about what happens when!

Edit:- sorry I was wrong, I remember now checking it on my wife's 2015 (2016MY) Polo, and yes it is covered by V3 but no adaption channel work possible, ie personalisation/customisation yet!

Another Edit:- I think that the date for the current Fabia range is wrong in Carista, they quote >2016 then 2016+ - that is wrong I think, so no, this will not allow for any changes to be made - yet, diagnostics etc will work okay though.

Is the app free or do you need to pay to make changes?

No, like anything that involves a lot of work to create, you have to pay!

My latest email from Carista outlines what is in the October update, for VAG that means VW Golf, Audi A3, SEAT Leon and Skoda Octavia - customising for latest models.

So,that means Polo, Ibiza and Fabia will need to wait a while longer for customisation procedures to get added - maybe November?

What are the cost then ?

I've forgotten the price that I paid, not much, but the current pricing has changed, look on their website.  By the way, I believe that there is a back door still open for those that want to buy the original product at a sensible price, I can't work out why they would leave that open.

I think the back door has been closed now as I have just checked where it used to be in the app and its gone (now on V3.1 and I'm sure the option was still there on V3.0). It was £14.99 for the pro package but now its a subscription (either a week at £7.99  or a year for £29.99).  However, it still states on the app store under in-app purchases that the pro package is £14.99.....

I emailed them today basically asking when the customisations will be ready for the Fabia 2016+ .... this was their response:

Hi, thanks for your interest in Carista. We're actively working on customizations for the 2016+ Fabia and we already have some of them implemented in a test version of our app, but we're not ready to release them officially yet. My guess is "within a few months", but I can't really say. Are you interested in trying them out as part of our beta-test program?

I don't have the ODB2 connector at the moment and won't until I know what I could change so I will drop them an email asking what customisations they have working.

daveface, if you are serious about this, why not get sorted out with a compatible dongle as you can use Carista for everything except customisation on that car, then get on their beta testing list.  I am on it for Polo 6R 6C, but so far no requests to test from them.

Edit:- I feel that companies like Carista really do need owners to help them to help these owners, I know we pay good money for Carista, but for what it can do, it is cheap when compared with other diagnostic equipment.

Thanks, I have now ordered a wifi ELM327 dongle and accepted the beta-test so hopefully in the next couple of days I should be able to report back on what works and what doesn't ????

As I said, you should have working advanced diagnostics - and OBD2 obviously, so all good for a current Fabia bar customisation.

Edit:- from memory, if you try customisation option, you will have the chance to send Carista a de-bug file, which might be useful for them in their bid to collect relevant information about these cars.

From the email I had, it indicated that they already have some customisations avalible for the Fabia but not all of them. Either way I will know soon enough ????

Carista Beta update this morning ( 320001) - email says to check Polo 6C and Fabia 2015+ customisations ( and a number of others Octavia 5E etc ... )

But the app just showed the usual "We're working on stuff for your car and will let you know when it's ready" kind of message.

Looks like something is imminent though.

That is encouraging!  My finger in the air guestimate was Nov or Dec, so maybe still on track.

Stop Press !!  Email back from Todor in Carista this morning ..

"Ah, yes, we have not configured the app for the main module in your car. We'll do it with the next beta update. This is useful data, thanks! "

Glad they're replying to you!

I sent them an email on Wednesday requesting to become part of the beta testing and haven't heard a thing!

Seem to remember something similar too. Think I had annoyed them by sending in debug data every few months !!! Just took me onto beta test to keep me quiet !!!  :D

Todo just got back to me, very similar reply to yours but t does seem we should have something in the next couple of days!

"Ah, yes, I see what happened here. We don't have the right configuration for your car yet, but we've already added it based on feedback from others, and it will be available in the next beta. Stay tuned for a beta update over the next couple of days."

Oh right, so when it prompts to buy nothing actually happens? Like if you try to get a diagnostics code?

This is the email I got:

Dear David Dixon,

Sure, I have just sent you an invitation to our iOS beta and you'll receive an email from iTunes Store with instructions on how to get it. Note that all purchases in our iOS beta are fake (no actual money is taken from your account), so feel free to "purchase" whatever you need inside the app.

Before changing any customizations, please send us debug data from your car, so we have a backup of its original configuration. You can do this via the slide-out menu -> "Debug menu" -> "Collect debug data". Thanks.

Please let us know if you have any questions or run into issues.

Oh cool, thanks for sharing that, he didn't tell me that very small, but important peice of information lol :-)
