Interior light advice

Featured Replies

My interior light has completely failed - first it stopped turning on & off correctly, then the entire switch assembly broke and fell out.

1. I've sourced a replacement already. It looks like the only connections for fitting are an electrical port and two screws. Is that the case?

2. Is it possible to easily replace the filament bulb with an LED alternative?

Any info/advice appreciated. Thanks.

very easy to replace just remove the 2 screws and lever out, there's 4 clips 2 on each side holding it into the metal fitting in the headlining.

It then just unplugs and you will be able to see the broken switch which you may be able to fix as its just a spring unit which slides along some contacts.

I replaced my bulbs with leds and they work very well, just make sure the w5w map light leds (if you have them) are not to long so that the lens will be able to be refitted

The centre bulb is a c5w i think and i used a 10w led which looks great and very bright.

I had to put a small resistor in my led, always looked like it was on! Much brighter though :)

2 X W5W and 1 X C5W. I bought mine from Halfords ~ £20 error free.

Interior lights aren't monitored by CanBus so ebay ones could work as long as they are half decent.

Thanks for the information everyone.

The original switch had disintegrated, so I got a working replacement for £6 and it was very easy to install.
