Does my superb detect rear passenger seat belts?

Featured Replies

Obviously, it doesn't. But is it supposed to? How would I know?

2012 superb, elegance trim.

No, it's not supposed to. The S2 never had that feature.

its a a real failing IMO if you have young kids in the back. Getting a warning when one has escaped is vital.

I agree, another 'Simply Clever' feature that Skoda could have worked on.

They have been looking at making this law in the USA and I know some cars have them there.

The issue seems to be effectiveness and annoyance problems - brief cases and shopping and various items of "cargo" often get put onto back seats and the resulting  belt reminders would **** people off. If they get adjusted to only go off at higher weights, children might not be detected....

Last Friday, my cat set off the front passenger seat sensor. She is enormously fat though. Just sayin.

Kids wriggle out of seat belts without undoing them so keeping a good eye on them is vital in any case.

If they do wriggle out or un-clip their belt then simply pull over and give them a damn good thrashing. Simply Clever!

We went on a long road trip once, and in the back seat was our son in a baby capsule, his grandad and our older son in a booster. When grandad got out he accidently undid the baby capsule's belt instead of his own (we didn't have ISOFIX, so the only thing holding the capsule in was the belt). We drove for 5 hours before realising the belt was undone.

A simple light on the console (as used by many other manufacturers) showing which belts are currenly engaged (don't even need to worry about the weight sensor) would be much appreciated.

When the 3T Superb was released, the Passat and Golf of the same time had the rear seatbelt warning.

It takes things a while to trickle down from Audi to VW to Skoda, particuarly with VAG's hostility to the re-invented Skoda's success.

It's present in the current (Gen3?) Superb.
