Pleased with the distinct lack of torque-steer!

Featured Replies

I drove the old Mazda 6 for the first time in ages over the weekend.

Putting my foot down hard from a stop, I really noticed the squirming of the front end and it occurred to me that this was something I really hadn't noticed in the VRS, even when giving it the beans.

Impressive really for a FWD considering how much more power/torque it has over the Mazda...

On stage 1 map there is no torque steer either, mind you it won't torque steer as the tyres don't actually grip ;-)

Don't get me wrong I love the vRS, but unless there is a TSI DSG 4WD version buy the time my pcp's up in 36 months I'll have to move to Audi / VW.

Yep, the VRS electric-steering is great for removing feedback. Personally I think the steering feels dead when compard to every other car I have owned.

Sums it up, really. Sometimes I feel like I am playing PlayStation when I am driving fast - very little notice of where the limits are through the steering wheel. It makes it harder to "aim" the car. I have an hatred for electric steering racks, but unfortunately it seems they are becoming the norm, just like automatic gearboxes.

VW group have always been good at controlling torque steer, Mazda, unfortunately - have not.

no torque steer feel in the wheel, but the front tires are squirming all over the place, under too much throttle, at least in my car.
