Faba VRS-Puncture Repairs

Featured Replies

Just a quick query. I think one of Michelin Pilot primacy tyres has a slow puncture. Thinking about taking it down to the puncture repairers.

Having driven around in old bangers for the last 13 years i have plenty of experience of "quick puncture repairs"on cheapo tyres only costing a tenner or so.

Does anyone know if it will cost a lot more to repair one of the Michelins?

puncture repairs, if holed through the tred around here are free.

However:

1. It maybe a leak from the tyre bead, which will mean the tyre will need to be removed, resealled and fitted + balancing - about £10

2. If the damage is to the side wall it is not repairable.

3. If you have punctured the tyre I would get a new one - The amount of torque/power being fed through the tyres may cause the repair to fail - sometimes with catastrophic results. (What price do you put on your safety?)

Should be fine as long as it's not close to the side wall and I'd expect it to cost about the same :D My slow puncture was attributed to a leaky valve which was replaced with a metal on I think....

Thanks, it's the rear left tyre so it's subject to the power and torque like the front ones are, so i will probably just get it repaired

I believe Manny got a puncture repaired on his tuned Octy and it did plenty of laps of the Ring without problem.....

Thanks, should stand up to all the roundabouts we have here in Leicester then!

I had a puncture in my octys wintertyre when it was new. Got it fixed and drove with that tyre 50 thousand kilometers.

Sounds like a decent repair job!

I had a nail through my left front after about 10k, right in the middle of the tread so repaired okay. Unfortunately the repair lasted for about 5k. You CAN get better than a KwikFit fitter. :thumbdwn:

I had the left rear tyre repaird a few months ago and no problems so far. It was a nail straight through the tred.

If your spare is still new, you may want to put the repaired tyre on the steel spare and mount the spare where the puncture was.

I found a couple of nails in my rear passenger side tyre not long after I got my car, managed to get repaired without the need for another tyre. 8,000 miles later and no problems at all, in fact the tyre in question maintains the correct pressure better than the other 3. If it had been one of the front 2 tyres however I would have done what bryand sugessted

Ouch, sorry to hear that, very annoying:mad:

Got mine repaired, have had others repaired in the past. It's not worth doing if the tyre is borderline for replacement anyway, but if there is plenty of live in it yet it should be fine.

If you go to a reputable tyre place it's not in their interest to badly repair a tyre. Plus if they were in doubt they'd probably say you needed a new one anyway, better margin on that at a guess :)
