spare wheel

Featured Replies

Noticed today having never really thought of it, how many face lift octavias have a full size spare, or space saver, mines even worse, its only got tyre foam which is just a waist of time! Mines on a 62 plate.

my 61 plate had a full size steel wheel , now upgraded to an alloy

Ordered my Octavia SE 1.8TSI June 2009 with a spare steel as standard in the brochure......in the period until 17/09/16 when I took the keys the spare was removed from the build but mine did come with a complimentary steel spare from the dealer,,,,never been used!

My car has a Space saver spare wheel that was ordered as part of the original build by the first owner.

I will be upgrading to a matching neptune alloy wheel in the near future just need to track down a single wheel.

Mine had the useless gunge as well. Soon bought a full size 16inch Skoda steel wheel from TPS. Only cost £74.72 with the bolt to hold the wheel in place. Threw the gunge in the bin. I was lucky though, as there was also a jack and wheel brace in the boot already. You just have to make sure the tyre is 205/55 to get the rolling circumference the same as the original lower profile 18" tyres. Tried to find a reconditioned alloy wheel at first, but the one I did find at a business that does alloy reconditioning, was slightly off the original colour. With luck anyway, the spare will never need to be fitted.

When I bought a March 2012 Octavia vRS in June 2013 the dealer removed the useless foam fit and supplied the spare wheel, jack, etc. kit as part of the deal. The wheel is a 16" fitted with a 205/55 tyre (been used once for about 10 miles). I keep meaning to source a 18" wheel with a 225/40 tyre so that I have a full-sized spare; but then that won't match my winter wheels/tyres!

There's plenty of 18" spaces savers online, not many spare alloys. I've got 4 Neptune's but don't want to really brake them up! Also the alloy wheel might stand prowd in the boot carpet?

I paid 50 quid for a second hand Neptune.

Had it refurbed to match all the others and bought a new tyre.

Sold the spare for £30

Despite what you may have heard the wheel fits fine with no problems.

Only minor issue as you can see is the foam that holds the jack is a bit too small now but as it's held in place with a strap too it's not an issue.

My octavia came with a spare wheel,a 16" steel one,i think some people have managed to fit a full size alloy into their vrs,i have just bought a Volvo & that came with no spare, just a tin of gunk & a compressor & in 25 years of driving ive only ever had 2 punchures but 3 days after getting the Volvo i went to leave work & found my o/s/r tyre was flat.... thankfully i used the compressor to inflate the tyre (no gunk used) & drove to my tyre place where they repaired the tyre... i have now bought a space saver spare wheel & jack.  :D
