New car warranty work....

Featured Replies

This is pretty much a daft question but wondered what people thought....

The Mrs has just bought a brand new Citigo last month and after looking around online for the best deal she bought it from the D M Keith Skoda dealership in Leeds. Our nearest and normal dealership would be the Bickerton dealership in Sheffield.  We plan to go to the Sheffield dealership for servicing as it is a lot more convenient etc... as it's only about 15 minutes away compared to the 25 mile or so trip up to the Leeds dealership.

As to any warranty issues we may get (I've already got a feeling the car is suffering from the faulty aerial base issue that crops up on the Citigo) should we go back to the original dealer with the car only being a few weeks old or just take it in to the local dealership where we will eventually be getting it serviced?

I don't think that Sheffield will do a worse job because you got it from Leeds and I don't think that Leeds would do a better job because that was where you bought it. There's little loyalty from the dealerships and even less from the customers nowadays. JM2PW.

The Sheffield Dealership might just go the extra mile, as they would like your new car business in the future.

Warranty totally transferable Skoda / VAG promise. Quality of CS and Workmanship Assured ! Simplest!!

You are just being " Simply Clever" !

Pretty much what I was thinking myself.......

I remember when I got my Fabia vRS new back in 2006 I bought it from a different dealer and an old service person at Sheffield who I believe has long since left came out with some sarcastic comment that he thought was funny about why I had brought it to them rather than where I had bought it from. I shot him down with a few comments regarding how bad their sales team had been at the time of purchase and he shut up. :D

I'm in the same boat, my 230 was bought in Mansfield, Sales Staff Excellent. Car will be Serviced/warranty at Lookers Harrogate, sales rubbish, but 1st Class service department.

That was the same story with my vRS..... Rainworth were better for the sales.... But Bickertons were better for service..... They have since merged to be part of the same group anyway now. :)

In this case we did all the looking around online rather than phoning or travelling to dealerships and Bickertons had nothing on their website regarding the PCP or Lease deals on the car she wanted compared to the others she had already found.
