wood dash

Featured Replies

Hey.

I have Skoda Superb 2016

I'm looking for a dashboard like a wood tree

Where to Get?

I doubt any of the aftermarket wood trim manufacturers will have made a pattern for the new Superb yet, so your options are:

1. Contact them, see if they want to use yours to develop their patterns. You may be able to get it free/cheap that way!

2. Use vinyl self adhesive film. It's better quality now and is removable if you don't like it or want to sell it later. Something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3M-DI-NOC-364GN-WG364GN-WOOD-GRAIN-GLOSS-VINYL-FILM-SELF-ADHESIVE-60cm-x-100cm-/141761313082

I think some of the high-end Passats have wood trim as an option, so you may be able to source some parts that will fit from VW.

You could consider looking at using Hydrographics. Have seen this demonstrated on the TV programme "Wheeler Dealers" an it look brilliant and you are not restricted to wood - there are lots of finishes like carbon fibre. As an example have a look at this link http://www.garnish-uk.com/hydrographics-exeter/.

I have no connection with the company, have never used them, it is just an example of how it works, Can be used externally too e.g. on wheels.

The India Superbs have wood finishes.

Hi.

I am look for wood dash for new superb.

Were i can bay?

I don't like the steering wheel with the wood wrap but personally I do like the wood trim around the dash/doors and was disappointed that its not available for the MKIII (apart from piano black in the L&K).  It is a personal thing however and many regard it as old fashioned.  I can see the shift generally towards more aluminium and carbon fibre look in most cars now.  Not my thing but I'll just have to live with it.

The Indian Superb doesn't come with the wooden trim. All piano black on the L&K. Hate it on mine though. Extremely scratchy. Found the wooden trim on a Chinese website. Matte finish. But at almost $350 I don't know if it's worth it.

I agree: that looks beyond foul!

Faux wood trim may look at home in retro cars like the Jaguar S-Type and the Rover 75, but why on earth would you want to dress up a modern car like that? Hideous!

Agreed. One of the most hideous things I've seen in some time.

Conversely faux aluminium and shiny black plastic look just as hideous, if not worse, to some.  The white metal 'stuff' in VW's looks so cheap; the sort of thing a boy racer would DIY back in the eighties.

All about personal taste I guess. Or maybe just age :tongueout::tongueout::tongueout:

All modern car interiors look awful. If they're not made of genuine eagle beaks then I am not interested.

Sit in one of these...

...and tell us again that "all modern car interiors look awful". The new E-Class is on another level - the picture doesn't do it justice.

Try looking in the 1960's

PS: Sorry, just spotted something stupidly retro on that Merc dash - the silly round clock. I guess that, when I sat in one, I was so impressed by the (modern) overall design and quality that, I just missed that unfortunate little detail.

I thought it was obvious I was joking, you know, what with suggesting turning eagle beaks into dashboards.

I will be honest with you though, that interior does look nasty. I don't doubt the build quality though, but as I've never sat in one, I only have how it looks as a guide.

"One of the most hideous things I've seen in some time".

I am not sure whether that merc it is trying to look like a supercar or is as retro as this. Either way it fails miserably. In my opinion of course ;)

Heck! I've gone all nostalgic for a bench seat. Fond memories...

Obviously all a matter of personal preferences, yes. And like I said, the picture doesn’t do that Merc justice – I was blown away when seeing it in a showroom.

Be that as it may, how about this as another piece of evidence to support the case for the prosecution:

Criminal, surely?!

(For some reason that photo didn't want to be inserted here)

I love all this breadth of taste. It doesn't look as bad to me as it obviously does to you but then perhaps I am just wallowing in nostalgia.

I still live in the world where a cream or proper brown leather interior with good quality wood effect trim can look very sharp. I just get annoyed that I can no longer choose that option.

"How much wood would a woodchopper chop if a woodchopper could chop wood"

I always thought this was a simple tongue twister but perhaps it is writ large in every modern car designers studio :D:D:D

I am looking to purchase a superb many manufacture are returning to wood trim inserts in there cars. I personally like it, recently looked a Peugeot 3008 with a grey open pour wood it was nice as was the Volvo

Mercedes and bmw offer many different wood options,  as does Lexus etc, guess I was brought up in cars with wooden dashes jaguar xj, rovers, triumphs, Daimler etc, its what you get use to, i do not like  piano black plastic no to aluminium no to other plastic trims, used in cars . Except obe used on  my Lexus  Has a piano black trim till light hits it and it's like a multi coloured star field  it's very good they use it sparingly inn the car.

But wood with light leather trim look lovely homely.

It's personal  taste but that why we have options.

If they offered the crystal glass they use on there concept cars I would comfort that.

Skoda offered wood effect inn the superb II I had it fitted an very nice it was.
