Ditto.

Remember that period in the late 90’s-early 00’s when Kia, Hyundai and co. would garnish their interiors with faux walnut because that’s what they thought us Europeans perceived as ‘quality’ ?! Well now just think how much better their cars have become now that they’ve grasped modernity and a some of their own design flare.

So Skoda now undo it all by using recycled Rover 414 interiors, for the Asian market.

My eyes....

I actually love interior in Style version (SE-L i think it is in UK). The only other winning interior is Mercedes E, CLS and S and maybe Lexus GLS. So I'm really found of interior in Superb. I love Superb's interior.

If you were as old as me you will remember when it was real wood trim in cars like Jaguar/Daimler.  Not good for safety if you had a crash of course but looked fanstatic against a proper leather interior.

Maybe that is why I would prefer to, at least, have a choice of more classic trims.

e.g. Take a look, in real life, at a Volvo S90 with its Linear Walnut/Beige interior. Lush.

I think Volvo are by far the classiest ‘mainstream’ manufacturer at the moment.

The new Bentley Continental is a different class but is also x4 expensive.

I posted in this thread a few years expressing my dislike of the aluminum look.  I have to say, having had it in my Superb for the past two and half years, it has grown on me now and the wood inserts do look a bit dated in comparison.

...and tell us again that "all modern car interiors look awful". The new E-Class is on another level - the picture doesn't do it justice.

This is hideous, too many switches and too many finishes.  It looks like the designer wanted to try a bit of everything.

Why aren't all the air vents the same design?

Why on earth do you want seat buttons on the door card, maybe the memory buttons but why the adjustment?

Why separate the lock/unlock from the window buttons?

Why isn't the screen trim surround integrated with the dash lip just above it?  It looks like they were supplied with the wrong screen and had to bodge something at the last minute!

Polished piano black is to be avoided . . . . . . too many reflections from it at night.

Aimed at a 12 year old, the small mercs are some of the ugliest cars around at the moment.

Eye of the beholder, obviously.

The one gripe I really don't understand is about the seat buttons on the door card: that's so much better than having to fish blindly for them on the side of the seat somewhere!

Generally - after three+ years of S3 ownership - I feel the car's interior design has aged quite quickly, while the exterior still looks sharp to me. But it's the latter we'll probably find has been tweaked most in the autumn. For me, the car's biggest drawback of all is the quality of the seats: just not good enough. I buy another Skoda, but only if seats are much improved.

Some of the dash layout and design on the MB interiors are questionable; a colleague has a 67 plate C200 with a few options/packs and I find the interior just isn't as tactile as the pictures suggest.   The interior design team appear to have tried to cram as many things in as they could and it's just a bit too 'busy'.

What seats do you have in yours?  Leather or Alcantara?  I do like the seats in the Sportline and they appear to be wearing quite well.

I agree that the interior of the car is it's weakness; it just looks like a Passat from a generation or two ago.  It lacks a little excitement and I get the feeling Skoda are reined in in certain areas as to not overstep the VW group hierarchy.  It would be nice to see the brand create their own design touches rather than being handed the VW parts bin but I suppose that's the whole point of the MQB platform and trying to deviate too much from the overlords didn't exactly end well for SAAB....

What seats do I have? Leather (it's an L&K), also vented. I've sat in the Sportline seats and - from memory - they share the same principal problem for tall people: too short / no extensions. I recently drove a rental Vauxhall/Opel/PSA Insignia and that had seat extensions, and better seats overall. (Not that I'd ever consider buying an Insignia - infotainment system is just awful).

Ah, thanks!  I was on my phone so couldn't see your profile info.

How often do you actually adjust the seat, with a memory set all you need to do is press the appropriate memory button, or doesn't the merc work from the key like the Superb?
