Skoda Fabia estate Door locking

Featured Replies

Dear all,

My earlier car was Skoda Octavia 2003 1.8 Turbo petrol which I was really please with and hence decided to change it to nearly new skoda fabia estate (build Oct 2015).

One simple confusion I have is central locking.

The manual says "Automatic locking and unlocking All the doors and the boot lid are locked automatically once the car reaches a speed of about 15 km/h"

I can not hear any locking of the doors. any reason why? also I don't see the light on central locking switch.

Please can someone reply to this

Thanks

Mehul

I'm guessing that that option has not been programmed in to your car, or if it has, it has not been switched on in car locking options.

I've got an equivalent Polo and these settings/changes can be found in the locking section on the Infotainment system, if your car has been programmed to have that option enabled, you will find it in the locking option menu, if it is not there then it has not been enabled.

It needs to be turned on.

Your dealer will do it. Probably no charge even. Or maybe at your next service.

Or, if you have, or know somebody with, VCDS, you can have it programmed in. There is another thread on here where this was

talked about recently : http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/412654-new-car-to-us/?p=4727910

Edit: Snap rum4mo !!

UK cars don't have that option as discussed in the linked post. VCDS can turn it on though the latest version of VCDS and an April 2016 Fabia didn't follow the VCDS instructions I've seen. Still need to follow up and show people what I saw when I enabled it.

Don't understand the first part of your post, I'm afraid. My Sept '15 SE L Hatch locks all doors just after moving off....came from the factory with this function.

Oh, that's a surprise. I wonder if most dealers are switching it off during PDI or something but so far the consensus is its not active. If I'm honest our car is six months old so maybe it was switched off on request but given the cars history (belonged to Skoda UK) I reckon it won't have been near a dealer.

Out of interest do you have the option in the car menu?

In the interests of accuracy, my Hatch was UK stock, (not even at dealer)...unprepped/un-registered so I doubt it had been played with by anyone.  I'll have a look in the menu tomorrow, and revert.

Left my 2016 monte into dealer who activated it free of charge.

Had a wander through the Menu to-day....no sign of an option to disable or, therefore, enable.

Yup my 16-plate SE-L doesn't do this, and there is no option to enable it. When I had my Citigo the dealers enabled it and same for my Mk1 Fabia vRS. I will be asking my dealers if they can enable it at my first service ????

I read the manual today and doesn't have any information to enable it. may be I will ask my nearest dealer and then they may be able to do it.

On the other note i have something to pick you guys brain on. Smartlink system. It says it should work on Android phone with android 5.1 on wards. I have nexus 4 which has android 5.1.1 on it but still doesn't work. is it something that Smartlink only works on new phones. I can install the application from Google play store. My understanding is that I won't be able to install the application if it is not compatible so I don't know what is wrong.

I take it you have the Android Auto app installed?

It was a little fussy the first time I connected my phone, and it still often requires 2 goes to get it connected. On the SmartLink screen, hit the button at the bottom saying something like 'Devices', then select your phone, and it should work. Are you paired over Bluetooth? IIRC it needs to be connected via USB and Bluetooth to work.

Hi

I've just gotten a Fabia estate SE-L new. Didn't have automatic locking activated. From the info in this forum I went to dealer who were unsure.....I told them what I'd read in this forum and within 15 mins it had been activated.

Thanks for this very informative forum.
