1.8 TSI High oil consumption..

Featured Replies

So, the new Engine is in. Runs very smoothly. Hope it´s gonna stay that way. Only thing now is the car thinks it´s in reverse when I start it up, hence the radio stays in backwarner mode. When I actually put it in reverse and then in first gear it goes back to normal. Any suggestions? Going to call the workshop on thursday due to the holidays. Also the electric seat doesn´t move back and forth automatically when I open and close the door.

Forgot to meantion. Total cost with engine, freight, installation, new PCV-valve, new oilseparator (don´t know the English word), new waterpump, cleaning of intercooler and a lot of oil (4 sets and filters)= 6000 EUR.

:o Ouch!!

Yeah, a lot of money. But I´m thinking, the car is in very good shape, both on the outside and the inside. With a new engine it should be good for a very long time.

Any ideas on the reargear-thing?

I'm currently achieving 1000km/l in my 2012 118tsi Superb Elegance with 80,000km on the clock. I think another ten refills and the grand old dame, which apart from needing a new clutch (covered partly by extended warranty) at 65K has served us pretty well in the four years we've owned the car.

Wouldn't have gone near it if I'd done the research beforehand but would probably still prefer a Skoda over anything else when we come to change. Convincing myself the problems are over.

I'm  using about 9000km/l in my 61 reg 1.8tsi L@K. OK it uses a bit but nothing out of the ordinary really considering I have a catch can fitted as well.
