Featured Replies

Ive tried everything to update the sat nav in my car and ive now given up lol. ive got a mac so when i download apparently it does something to the files that makes it un readable. i was wondering if someone could send me there sd card, ill transfer the files to my laptop then onto mine. I will send a cash deposit via bank transfer or paypal which ever is best. Any help is much appreciated. Dont know what else to do. thanks

What sat nav do you have? Amundsen, Columbus, something else,...

And is it MIB1 or MIB2?

That looks like anAmundsen to me, but can't tell if it's a MIB1 or 2...

I've just done the update on my Amundsen MIB1 with no problems at all.

I think you may be right about the extra unwanted files that a Mac adds, can you get a friend with a PC to un-zip the downloaded update file onto an SDHC card for you?

OSX should not be changing files, but may be unpacking them from the zip "container". See here: http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/961/how-to-stop-safari-from-unzipping-files-after-download

Others have had problems with osx adding lots of hidden files.

There is a simple way to clean it up, but as Im not a mac-user, I dont remember what it is.

aha - excellent post here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/248545-sd-card-bolero-unit/page-2 - note the full four pages of the post should be read first.

obviously - card should be backed up first, prior to running the terminal commands suggested.

Easy solution is to use a PC to unzip the download to the SD-card.

Its a long standing issue for MAC users that copying the files to the SD-card creates some extra MacOS files which the Amundsen cannot handle.

This thread gives the names of a couple of Mac programs people used to clean-up the SD-card: CleanMyDrive2 and BlueHarvest

Alternatively you can use the terminal method described.
