Bi-xenon AFS Headlights in " travel mode" deactivation.

Helllo Everybody, from Andalucia, Spain

Superb III owner from March2016, after a Skoda Partner dealer update my car Bixenon headlights with AFS are now in "Travel mode",

In this "Travel mode", other modes ( like city mode, out of town mode, motorway mode,rain/fog mode, which automatically adjust the low beam headlights range based in  vehicle speed, loading situation or even weather conditions in order to ensure better as possible road illumination)  are disabled,  and the adaptative bi-xenon cone  is adjusted to a shorter than a standard low beam, and  simetrical (same range for both sides of the road, to prevent opposite oncoming traffic), similar to city mode,  All  AFS functions to adjust maximun low beam range are disabled.

I really think this "travel mode" in our BI-Xenon  is very useful to UK Superb owners who travel abroad, but not for other countries where Superb owners like me, who really want to travel to UK... by air.

The problem is that this "travel mode" cannot be deactivated. Not via the infotainment nor the skoda partners dealer, who assure their VAG equipment is not capable to do so.

Standard Headlights low beam range, for Right hand driving illumination is asymetrical  40 meter for left side of the road and up to 75 m. for right side of the road. When travel mode is activated my  Bi-xenon low beam illumination range is simetrical,  aprox 40m. in both side of the road.

So, is there anybody in the forum who knows how thjs "Travel mode " can be de-activated? I only want to see the road like this superb HELLA  AFS BI-XENON can do ( pls see Youtube HELLA AFS Bi-xenon).

Many thanks in advance for kind cooperation and greetings from Spain.

Škoda certainly can deactivate it as it is how all cars are delivered to them by the factory. They have to turn travel mode off before selling you the car! Sounds like they messed something up and need to go through the Pre-Delivery Inspection (UK name) and check everything has been set correctly.

You can try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes and see if that resets everything. It will throw up a load of warning lights, but after starting the engine a couple of times and a short drive they should revert to normal again - well mine did.

Dealer tools should definitely be able to turn tourist/travel mode on/off. You might need to contract Skoda directly rather than the dealer and see if they can help.

Alternatively, a local member with VCDS should be able to do it. Not sure if we have many users in Spain but you can check these threads:

Maybe a RH drive can t be programed as a LH drive for lights

And Reverse also

In a way make sense no?

Don't know if it's the same but my Octavia has a setting for the lights for driving on the left or the righ side of the road, this is in the " Light " settings on the Radio under " Car Settings "
