Out With The Old and In With the Newish (Skoda)

Featured Replies

Just done the dirty on my Skoda FL 140 hp diesel, Elegance with sport suspension-  and sold it. Collecting a pre used 2016 Skoda Octavia Combi 1.4TSI SE. A few things are missing like a CD player, cruise control and powered folding mirrors. I have now got a DAB player and adjustable power modes to play with. A nice drive and rides smoothly. Time will tell whether I need to whinge err contribute to the forum.

You sure cruise control missing?

Cruise control is an optional extra on the SE.

Not easy to retrofit these days also.

Should really be standard on the SE.

Most dealers will retrofit cruise control for 350 pounds parts and labour. Before i bought my car i was interested in an se without it, dealer told me its retrofit, depending on the type of steering wheel.

CD player not missing they aren't fitted anymore, I still have one thankfully in mine although it is in the glovebox and is a single disc only which makes changing discs a right faff unless you bring a CD changing person with you in the passenger seat.  :dull:

How does it not have cruise control when my 1.4tsi SE estate my16 65 plate has it as standard? Did they stop fitting it?

CC has not been shown as standard on the SE in UK brochures for the last two years. I don't know about your car specifically, but there was an offer in the spring and early summer of 2015 which included some extras for free on some models.

The SE gained CC, MFSW and light assistant, which I got*. I think it ran from April through to the end of June or July. There were threads on here about it at the time, although I they concentrated more on the Elegance and VRS than the SE.

*It was also advertised as including the auto dimming rear view mirror, which was wrong.

I was a bit concerned with the odd arrangement with a CD player in the glovebox when I first got my Octavia, Once I realised that I could transfer all my music collection onto an SD card and use that it makes using CDs seem really old hat. You can also link the music on your phone via Bluetooth or I just plug my MP3 player into the aux socket with a jack plug - the SD card option is the best though.

No cd player although the sd slot is in a black box which looks vaguely like a blanking cover.

Not entirely sure of all the equipment as yet. I can cope with manual dipping of the drivers mirror and no headlight washers. They did not really work and were a pain in the dark when the spray virtually obscured the lights. My mileage has dropped and am hoping I can cope without cc.

No rear DRL set up is possible either according to the main dealer.

Mustn't be too negative as I'm looking forward to the collection next week. Paid for a spare wheel and tool kit.

Ah didn't realise that Rodge, cheers for the info. All good useful kit that I actually use and value, so fortunate timing there!
