lowering fab vrs

Featured Replies

ok, so i wanna lower my fabia vrs as i think soon the hedgehogs will be nestling between the gap, but where do i start. i live in loughborough, leicestershire.

i have read about a few different types of springs or whatever they are, something like eich, dunno now. how much to lower it, what is recommended or not , what is too low, and are there any dangers to slamming it too far apart from obviously the speed bumps, any ideas on how much, i know some have done it but i know nothing about it, i wonder why skoda never did it themselves, does it affect the warranty, only have about 9 months left now anyway, thats really the only mod i think the car needs, its fast enough for me and looks good apart from that, not over keen on the brakes tbh, they dont seem to stop as well as it goes.

any advice is always appreciated

Eibach. Go for a 30mm to 40mm drop, and not more. Otherwise, you could also go for adjustable coilovers, which means completely changing your suspension system with dampers & springs replaced. I've got a 40mm H&R spring setup on mine. Did wonders to the handling :)

Mil, me old mate, the VRS starts lower than the others (by 25mm IIRC) so he'd want the Eibachs for the VRS which drop it about 12-25mm

Meh...

If you'll allow me to speak frankly for a minute:

IMHO Eibach springs don't lower the FvRS anywhere near enough.

Fair enough, they sort the handling out, but for me, I want to loose the crazy arch gap which the Fabia sports and the Eibach springs just don't do that.

I'd be very interested in H&R's spring offering for the Fabia vRS (assuming they do a set), as their springs usually lower the car more than Eibach (and imho ride better).

I had both Eibach and H&R springs as well as H&R Coilovers on my Polos.

I now have H&R coilovers on my Fabia. They are wound to the bottom and if it wasn't for the low sump, I'd want to go lower.

Whoever designed the Fabia arch gap needs kicking in the balls.

You just have to look at standard BMW's to know that arch gaps don't have to be huge, while retaining comfort and flexability.

Thank you.

The vRS starts lower by only 15mm dude, and they also come stock in 16" wheels with 205/45 tyres (which are fat :D ), and therefore, the height difference between the vRS and the stock Fabia is not at all...in fact, the vRS Fabia I think would probably just be a TEENY WEENY bit lower than a stock Fabia on 14" wheels. In the case of a Fabia with 14" wheels or 15" wheels, it comes with the normal springs and 185/60/R14 and 195/50/R15 respectively, and the 195/50/15 wheel being overall smaller than both the vRS stock wheels and a 14" wheel setup.

So 30mm-40mm ain't that much of a drop therefore for the vRS. It dropped my car pretty low down, an H&R setup will be a helluva lot better (like Josh has already said) for handling & looks :D

I've got the Eibach / Koni setup which is a 25mm drop over the standard vRS setup. This handles much better than stock and still copes with bumpy UK 'B' roads / urban speed bumps etc.

......Mil, it's okay for you. You live in the Desert! ;)

(unless, you're thinking of entering the 'Paris - Dakar'!

John. :D

Its a personal preference thing. When it comes to spring Technology Eibach are pretty much at the top, but H&R are also up there as well. I've ran both on cars in the past and would probably choose the Eibach set-up when the Furb arrives next week.

The one thing many people forget is that springs should be matched to a set of dampers, and if not you may not get the desired ride you hoped for. It may well be that for springs alone the H&R are a better match for the stock dampers, where as Eibach may be better in combination with Eibach or Koni dampers.

Again, personally I'll be looking to lower the car but not drop it to the deck so 25-30mm will be ideal for me, so again Eibach is the choice at present, but if you want to go to about 40mm then maybe you want to consider some other brand or a full coilover set-up.

:)

I have eibach springs and dampers - the progressive nature of the springs is great as it takes the sharp edges off the road surface yet when loaded up in the corner, offers a well controlled and adjustable ride...

Eibach are quality manufacturers, hence the higher price than some other makes, but it's worth the investment.

verr err ess do you have pic of your car lowerered on or does anyone else for that matter. what sort of price are we looking at for the Eibach setup and dampers please

I'm going for Eibachs springs/dampers (ready to be fitted :D ) - reason being I'm only after handling improvements, not a slammed car :)

The sump is very low and I'd try to get a sump protector of aluminium, check out Josh' posts in the GB section :)

Coilovers are definitely better suited to controlling the height of the car - not cheap though :(

H&R Coilovers - Lowest Settings

and when you lower your car you dont have problems with the xenonst cuz i know that they are independed on the height of the car, wont it affect the xenons?

ha ha josh love how slammed your car is!!! lol

love that slammed look! Couldn't get away with that here in Wales!! mine's lowered -25mm on Eibach springs only, cost

Dino, yes; you have to readjust the xenons using vag-com and a screwdriver.

eatsoot04, cheers fella!

Schwarz, I live in the Peak District... There's not a huge difference in the roads between here and Wales LOL!

With the reduced profile tyres on my Porsche wheels, my sump guard scrapes on the tarmac if the road has enough camber on it! No snow required :)

With the OE wheels and tyres however, I have no issues with clearance at all. Speedbumps are fine if taken correctly (ie slowly and if they're the box type, I have to put half the car over the middle of the bump and the other half on the road... I couldn't straddle one for example)... Mmmmm "straddling bumps".

Yeah i get a bit nervous when straddling bumps (strange that)

Hi

We have fitted the springs alone , spings and dampers and Josh`s coilovers.

The coilovers was really low.Does look good though.

Then the springs and shockers they are the same amount of lowering , but it would be better with the handling side.

The rebound will also be better.

If anyone wants any help off us please just let me know.

Thank you

Sarah
