Loud single click when switching off engine

Featured Replies

My 2013 1.9 manual TDI (40k miles) has developed a single loud clicking noise when the engine is switched off, which appears to be coming from behind the bulkhead on the passenger side. In addition, it makes the very same noise (again just 1 single click) when changing up the gears, albeit slightly less noticeable due to the additional engine and road noise. I thought it might be some sort of failing relay associated with the clutch mechanism, but it happens when the car is switched off in neutral and occurs both with and without the start-stop system engaged. On reflection, this noise may have been there for sometime, but it's definitely become more noticeable recently.

I could turn the radio up or pretend it's a 'characteristic', but It's due a service this month and the 3 yr warranty runs out in December. Just wondered if anyone else has had this issue so I could mention it to the dealer?

The car runs perfectly otherwise.

Thanks.

Maybe try the Mk2 forum?
I guess the 1.9 is the old PD engine right?
