Citigo fuel cap cover

Featured Replies

Has anybody else experienced problems with staining from the fuel filler cover?

It's not a fuel problem, but water/dirt from the o/s/r wheel covering the outside of the rear wing from this area.

Should there be a seal to prevent this from occurring?

This 'Colours' edition has covered 4500 miles since July, and apart from a noisy clutch release bearing, it's proven to be far superior to my 2008 Aygo.

Fuel consumption has been a commendable 4090 miles at 308 litres (60ish to the gallon).

No. Is the drain hole blocked?

I noticed ours was like this when I washed it last week.......

I didn't think there was a drain hole there.... I know there is one in my Superb but hadn't noticed one on the Citigo.

I'm fairly sure it has one. Unless I'm getting confused with our Fabia. Too f-ing cold to go out and look just now!

I had a quick look earlier when the Mrs got home in her car.... Yep there is a drainage hole. Will have to check if it is blocked as there was definitely crud down the side of the car that had come out of the filler area when I washed it last week.

The drain hole hangs fairly low at the bottom and kinks slightly to the rear so if it is blocked I would just give the inside of the filler cap a quick blast with a pressure washer, I always do that when I clean the car and if I do happen to spill any fuel around that area I wipe it up straight away to prevent dirt sticking

Just to clarify, it's not a fuel or drainage problem, but water from the underside of the wheelarch passing upwards and out through the fuel filler cover (FFC).

Water collects behind the FFC, then drains down the outside of the o/s/r wing, leaving a stain in the process.

If you apply low pressure water via a garden hose from the underside of the wing, it leaks water past the fuel pipe to body 'diaphragm'.

Am I missing an 'o' ring or some other sealing device?  Common fault?

Andy.

In which case the answer is 'No, I don't have this problem'.
