Lockable Seats!!

Featured Replies

Dad was just cleaning his car and found out that he can lock the back seats so that they don't come forwards!!

So if the car went in for a service, you could give them the service key which would mean they can't get into the boot and then also lock the back seats which means they deffinetly can't get into the boot!!! Are Skoda trying to encourage us to hide things in the boot?!!

anyone else noticed the locking device?

:wrthless: ......The locking catch??

chastity belt system for the car... stop things entering the rear.

Just when I think I have found all the secrets up pops something else...Superbs are fun

Here's a piccie

Piggy, when did you find this out?? Was it after Tom unlocked the ankle straps................................................LOL

It's designed to stop the kids escaping from the boot on those longer than five minute journeys.....

Am i totally lost here? Locking the back seats? what happens if your seats dont come forward and fold down like mine?

Also whats the point of locking the boot when the car goes in for a service? they cant check the spare wheel pressure etc.

p.s I cant seem to view the pic attached further up the thread.

Ok to clear this thread up.... on the rear seats... where the release is to fold the seats forwards there is a lock (using any of the car keys to operate) to prevent the seats folding forwards.

Saloons never used to have folding seats and the boots would then be totally secure, this just enables security as well as practicality.

Don't know what is ment by service key?? Any car key will operate the lock on the car seats, and any key will unlock the boot.... so what on earth?

The service key (as supplied on Superbs) will not open the boot/glovebox/seat catches.

You can lock the boot release via the key switch in the drivers door pocket.

still confussed over the service key.. shorly its a car key right? im not arguing as i know you know best!! but just confussed!!

Yes it still is a regular key (non remote type)

But its cut a little different to the remote keys so will only unlock the door and start the car.

not sure what the difference is to be honest I have two "normal" flip keys and a ordinary key but that is cut identically to the others ......I will try it somewhen but I am sure Ross is right ...I can't see the point of shutting the mechanics out of the boot either ...if I didn't trust them I would take the car somewhere else

ahhhh all makes sense now so in a sense the standard flip keys are 'masters' and will do all locks in car where as service will only do the two main locks door and ignition.

 Clear in my mind now!

I believe the key you talk about is also for the likes of commonishers of hotels etc who park your car for you. The lockable rear backrest is same as found on old model Passats and is for security, and folding seats backs where not on earlier Superbs:( wish mine had them

Ah but yours has the leather, the Ski hatch and the umbrella :D

That's one thing that always p*sses me off about my Superb, the fact the back seats dont fold down, yet another bit of poor design by Skoda!! obviously they rectified it in later models but why make such a huge oversight in the first place?
