Any experience of track tyres for Furby???

Featured Replies

Got some Octy 17's which I will put on my Furby when the weather picks up and I'm contemplating either selling my 16's or to keep them and put some track day rubber on and maybe do some track days??

Has anyone put track day rubber on and which brand??

I have done a little search and can't seem to find the correct size to fit a Furby 16's!

I know Toyo do the R888 but they don't have the correct size in 16's. They do however do a 205/40/17 but that would mean selling up and getting new alloys!

If you have no arb, use Kumho V70A K6a on the rear (soft) and K9 on the front (hard) with jaw dropping results.

With arb, Kumho K9 on the front, part worn road tyres on the back :D

Got the rear ARB. How much for the tyres??

I assume you say part worns on back for oversteer playing??

Tyres are 100 each, but I have managed aroung 4k from the fronts.

Part worns for rear, yes for understeer fun, but also seems a wast scrubbing a set of new ones away.

Ive got 4 of the K9 hard compound going on my road wheels tomorrow ;):D

Just been on the Kuhmo website.

Intresting that you have gone for the Harder compound. How does it break traction? Is it sudden or progressive?

You really have to be rough with the throttle and steering to break traction, really rough. When they are up to temp, they are like superglue. Soft compound will be useless after 20 minutes on the front, due to the weight of the engine, they will be shredded.

Loss of traction is sudden. Hence the use of road tyres on the back on future track days.

Im using 4 hard on the road though, simply because i like cornering very quickly.

Thanks for that again Shifty.

I can always depend on you for experiences as you've just about done it all with the Furby!;)

I must get into this fish and chips lark......:D

Thought K6A was medium/soft, that's what I ran on mine. :D

Still getting them from Tony Dave? Good man isn't he

Tony is THE man when it comes to tyres, as you know ;)

K6's are indeed soft, thus I was using them at the rear, pre ARB. I use the k9 at the front due to the nose weight. They last quite well, while providing outstanding grip.

How did you get one with the K6A? I spoke to Tony and he said to go for the K9A all round, if I was planning on driving to the ring and back on them...

I thought the K9A's would be too hard?

This is for the Golf...
