Price increase next week?

Featured Replies

I'm doing the usual dance with a dealer on a new Superb Sportline; they conveniently mentioned there's a price increase across the board from 22nd November (next Tuesday).  Does anyone know if this is true or not?

I thought I'd found something online to back it up but that post was referring to a price increase earlier this year.

Ring Customer Services or another dealer and ask them about a price rise

It might be true. In Poland there was price increase for cars with production date 2017 (about £700)

Ok, so not a dealer trying to force a deal by month end.  Superb's price increase is effective 22nd November and is due to a rise in import and manufacturing costs.  Superb hatch +£725 and estate +£805.

That's quite a big jump.

Was told the same thing about two weeks ago prior to placing an order. Increase from 22nd November

I have just ordered a new one for business use. Was told last month to get the order in before the 22nd of November by the lease company due to a price increase.

You must be joking!

That’s absolutely nothing compared with where the ‘benefits’ of Brexit are going to take sterling.

Count that as a blessing and grasp it with both hands while you have the chance.

Yeah let's turn this into a brexit thread ! Not enough of those across the www...

I'm afraid I'm with eurotraveller - GBP vs Euro has decreased by around 20% since this time last year - I understand that not all the car's cost comes from outside the UK, but a £725 increase on a potentially £35k car (2%) isn't bad for a predominantly EU manufacturer.

Many thanks for flagging this up. It prompted me to get my finger out and after a couple of days frantic activity I ordered an SEL yesterday. The 14 week delivery time takes it to about the start of March and the dealer will supply on a 17 plate. I was planning to wait a bit longer but then there was a danger it would have been delivered after 1 April and fallen into the new higher road tax regime. As it is the timing has worked out the best of all worlds.

Yeah the timing of the price increase 'forced' me into ordering a Sportline yesterday.  I'm hoping for an early March delivery too so I'll get a MY17 and avoid the VED changes on April 1st.    The price increase on the Octavia was only £130 so not sure why the Superb went up so much.

I found that the price increase didn't seem to have been communicated to the dealerships very well.

Some dealerships I spoke to seemed to be unaware of any price increase, whereas others told me it could be put in place before the 22nd.

No sign of an increase on the Skoda website as of this morning.

As for the VED changes on 1st April, I also found that the majority of dealerships I spoke to were unaware of the changes, and I had to explain the changes to them.

I ordered a factory order car on Friday and would also like a '17 plate but preferably registered before 1st April. Again the story across the dealerships ranged from earliest delivery in January through to May - quite a big uncertainty.
