Fabia Monte Carlo Estate Winter Detail

Featured Replies

Had a clear Saturday today to give my Monte estate a good detail ready for winter, although judging by the temperatures it's already arrived!

Did the wheels first, with ValetPro Bilberry and Meguiar's APC on tyres and arches, then decontaminated with Carpro Iron-X, then foamed the car with Bilt Hamber Autofoam, which instantly disappeared! I think this was because I still had some remnants of some Gyeon Wetcoat that I'd applied a while back. Having said that, the foam still did its job! Went round the exterior trim with Meguiar's APC then 2 bucket wash with Meguiar's Gold Class. Decontaminated with Carpro Tar-X and Iron-X, which showed little to no contamination so didn't feel the need to clay at this point. Went over the whole car with Poorboy's Blackhole applied via DA on a Blue CG Hexlogic pad, and by hand on a foam applicator for intricate areas, gave off a nice reflection, as seen below with me and the Little Tikes car!

The car was then finished off with BMD Atlas, really easy to use, did the whole car, then finished the wheels off with a coat of Autobrite Cherry Glaze and a final coat of Collinite 845. Then buffed off the Atlas to leave a great finish! Tyres finished off with Meguiar's Endurance and glass cleaned with Meguiar's glass cleaner. Really satisfying day!

Looking good

That's a great result using some quality products. Any glass sealant used?

All the best

I'd already applied some Gtechniq G1 a while back, still doing its job!

How do you find the G1 compared with other sealants? Is it your preferred sealant?

Pretty good I would say. Not the easiest to apply as it needs to be left 12 hours but has lasted a good while ao hoping it'll last over winter. I've used Carpro FlyBy30 and the G1 is better. I also have some Angelwax H2GO which is highly praised so will try that next time.

Yeah quite impressed. Leaves a good finish and you can leave it for ages before buffing off, which is really handy as I could apply Atlas then leave it and sort the wheels out, then buff it off. The only issue I had was making sure there was enough on my applicator. Don't know if that was because my applicator was quite big for the 50ml sample pot or what.

Thanks for the comment Dan.

Yes - one of the reasons i love both BMD and AP waxes. You can apply to the whole car

then get busy with other stuff and then return to buff off with little or no effort really!!!

I was wondering if the new Winter Atlas version had perhaps lost the ease of use.... but seemingly not!

EXCELLENT!!!

Looking good! Love the finish on red paintwork!

Totally agree - a really good "wet look" to the paint now!
