BMD Sirius Dark Edition Review

Featured Replies

So, I got around to cleaning the Focus today and thought I'd do a quick review.

This isn't my first time with this wax, I used it during the summer and was most happy. It smells like a fruity bubblegum, delicious enough to eat.

It was cold so loaded on the foam a little grainey, but another decent swipe and it loaded up fine. I only applied it to the bonnet and front wings, I don't want to waste it during the winter after all. It spreads nicely, a bit more grabby than some but I put that down to the cold.

Nice and thin so I could barely see it. Left it for 5 mins then buffed it off. It came off an absolute breeze to reveal a regenerated finish.

It was applied over a layer of Dodo Juice Supernatural Hybrid on the car which was applied around 8 weeks ago.

I do love this wax, it gives an amazing finish. Looking forward to trying more BMD products in the future, once I've finished a few of my other pots.

Congratulations to Steve on a great product!

Kindest Regards,

Neil

Looks good

Durability?

I ask because its a major factor when waxing a clients' car

> 3 months .........?

This won't be for you then Chris. 2 months or less for this one. Their Taurus or Morpheus would better suit your needs. This is their show wax. Cracking deals on their waxes at the moment though buddy.

Nice write-up Neil - looking really good indeed. I cannot wait to test out some of Stevie's BMD waxes.

As stated - marketed as a Show Wax with high oil content for added gloss; durability is 2 months tops.

I'm excited for you. I'm still up in the air as to whether to get Morpheus for my own birthday treat. I have just treated myself to Prima HydroMAX to go over amigo as I needed a new spray sealant.

Thanks

Spray sealant you say?

AB Hellshine Abyss is pretty awesome and will take some beating

It looks good Chris. But had my eye on the Prima for a while; it's something a bit different and love amigo.

Will get around to popping that on in the spring. Will keep you all posted, of course.

Not bad at all Neil

Nice review, i'm also a fan of BMD waxes. Sirius is a lovely show/summer wax. With all of the BMD waxes I have found the application & removal of them very, very easy. In fact they are as easy to remove as the Swissvax ones I have used/owned.

Thanks for posting

Hey Neil - was looking through some waxes for a weekend detail and picked up the BMD collection.

Then thought that someone had posted a review on Briskoda sometime again.... so i'll revisit this thread.

BMD Sirius Dark was selected.... first impression, Great smell - Bubblegum I think.

Gave it a try on a test panel.....

Odd consistency for sure.... a little grainy on the applicator pad..... but just melts on the paint when applied.

I didn't find it grabby on the test panel, but I notice you tested in cooler winter temps.

Buffed off with ease, allowing the 5-10min haze period,  leaving a very slick finish indeed on the paintwork.

Looking forward to an easy detail applying more of this stuff - many thanks to Stevie Black at BMD

It was about 5 degrees C when I applied it bud. Which would be why it was a little grabby. But looks wise, it's the best that I've used. It's a belter.

Thanks for posting your thoughts on it pal!

Not a problem Neil - always happy to review any product, as you know.

This one sort of passed me by as Morpheus was more appropriate to the time of year when I purchased originally(winter).

The finish is very impressive and probably on a par with Definitive Show Edition; so I'm eager to see how fast it tails off.

Stevie at BMD has just expanded and opened a new blending room for his wax products.

To kick things off - there is a sale on with upto 33% off the range.

Worth a look - if anyone if after a quality wax.....

Stevie is a great guy. Got a few bits off him at Xmas and even held off dispatching them for me as I was away.

Sent from my Galaxy S5

Tempted with getting a Sirius sample. Would the dark edition be OK with red paint, or would the normal one be better?

Either should be fine Dan!

Enjoy

Enjoy

Thanks, will probably go with the Dark Edition for use on the Monte Carlo black trim as well as the red paint.

Excellent - be sure and let us know how you get on with it.

Any BMD fans on Briskoda?

Looks like Stevie had created a new Show Wax over the summer period.

Input on the wax characteristics was focused on the BMD Facebook User page. Great to see this!

So colour, scent and wax properties tailored to the requests....  sounds great!

I missed the test pots on this one - as I was on vacation..... but feedback so far has been superb.
