Ste's Sunday Shine - BMD Sirius Dark Edition Wax

Featured Replies

The .:R36 had 4 new Goodyear F1 Asym2's fitted on Wednesday of this week.

Plenty of admiration at the tyre fitting..... plus a nice discount offered too.

Thanks to Richard and his team at Kwik Fit Shipley....

So anyone local ... just mention the R36, he should sort you a discount.

Minimal miles since the last wash though - but still a very high level of dust and pollen deposits.

Maintenance wash routine as follows:-

- Ultimate Finish Snow Foam

- Rinse

- Wash with Dooka pad and Liquid Elements shampoo

- Rinse

- Spray with diluted Adam's quick detailer

- Dry with Paragon Big Yellow towel

- Door shuts, exhausts and alloys given a wipedown with Sonax BSD.

- Tyres with Definitive Wax Tyre Dressing

So then onto choosing a wax for this weekends detail.... working through my show waxes at the moment;

finally decided to use Black Magic Detail's BMD Sirius Dark Edition Wax.

Odd consistency for sure.... a little grainy on the applicator pad..... but just melts on the paint when applied.

Smell of the wax itself is sublime; Bubblegum scent I do believe - one of the best scents I've tested IMO.

Recommended to be applied 1 or two panels at a time and a relatively short cure time expected, say 5-10mins.

Buffed off with ease, it has to be said leaving an extremely slick finish and deep shine on the paint. :sun:

Much easier to use than a Definitive Show, but probably on a par with AP Intensify.

No QD added.... as I want to check on the beading behaviour on this wax.

The discount you mention is only available on Good Year tyres...fine I wanted those (25% off)

I rang the Shipley Branch after Alan said they have this offer...nothing on their Website at all.

Apparantly (After a check by a staff member, they do not supply GoodYear F1's in my Tyre size (205 45 17)...but Effecient Grip instead ('C' wet rating on a SportsCar..LOL) '''

......and after applying discount, were considerably more expensive than other quotes I had from suppliers with fitting inc....

I got my Eagle F1's fitted at Castle Tyres Bingley ...Always used them..Top job as always...

BTW....The woman at KwikFit, not a bloke called Richard, told me Goodyear dont do Eagle F1's in that size..LOL

So to sum up..I wont be going to Kwik Fit anytime soon

So glad your experiences were worth recommending...They were not for me

Thanks for sharing

R36 is looking sweet with the BMD on Stephen! Top job :)

Thanks Karl - I appreciate the positive comments! The .:R36 was looking awesome and beading well by Sunday night.

Almost as shiny as your weekends work buddy, going by the FB thread!

Top job

Credit where due! Can't beat a good bit of beading!

Thanks mate. Actually a lovely silver to work with! Not usually keen on silver cars but that was an exception!

Absolutely..... I think its rained the same day/night on each wax test I've completed over the last 3 weeks!!!

I'm getting there with a really nice gloss/wet look on our cars at home.

Beading wise - I think Definitive QD Pro is my favourite for now.

Tonnes of beading pics to share...

Thanks for sharing Ste. The pictures say it all; a top quality show wax!!!

Can't go wrong with the eagle F1s buddy. Always good to get decent service too. I guess its how you speak to people. Keep me posted on how long they last please pal. I've heard wear is their only issue.

I was very polite to the lady in Kwik fit Neil

Unfortunately she didn't know what she was talking about

Definite quality results from Stevie's products

That's both Sirius and Morpheus I have tested.... not been disappointed at all.

looking very tidy as always Ste   , love the way the light just rolls off the wheel arch and the rear three quarter with that wax.

I wouldn't get too hung up about what quickfit do or dont stock, they probably restrict inventory to help profitability.  I much prefer a good indie (though tbh last few times ive used F1 as they are a stones throw from work)

I have them on my remapped vrs and when I'm feeling brave I'll see how the wear is getting on.  Still cant see my tyre bill being as bad as Ste's R36 one :$$$:  :$$$:  :$$$:

Lovely in the corners but maybe not the quietest for roadnoise on mine which isnt great on 18in octavias anyway.  I'd expect the passat to have better noise deadending (or better everything) so should be perfect.  And like Neil says let us know how they wear, it'll make me feel better if you wear yours out before me.

A quick maintenance wash on the .:R36  after this BMD detail last weekend.

Just to comment - I was very impressed with the lack of dust/dirt on the car since BMD was applied.

It seemed to rain most of Mon/Tues and Wed evening this week..... but the car was almost clean.

Also noticeable was a lack of dust pooled in any dried beads etc. So just a foam and rinse routine today.

Even the foam was struggling to grip on the waxed paintwork.... which was good to see.

Only the alloys needed a decent amount of cleaning on this occasion. I think new discs are due before end of the year.

I've had Eagle F1s on a while now and they are lasting longer than my contis were , you have been busy Ste, the rear quarter panel looks liquid! :envy:

I couldn't fault them on my Octavia Alan, so much so, that they are on my Mazda and feel superb with the new alloys

I had the contis to.....on your recommendation I remember...LOL..the wear rate was crap wasn't it?
