Anyone else on here using BMD waxes at all? Looking at some options for my Winter protection detail.

 

BMD Taurus seems interesting..... but only going by the website blurb. Any feedback or experience on Taurus would be appreciated.

 

"Taurus is an advanced blend of T1 grade Carnauba wax, synthetic wax, and also added PTFE , blended with advanced polymers and natural fruit and nut oils. A soft wax orange in colour and with the scent of mango's, very easy to spread and remove to leave a very sharp glossy protective finish with great flake pop that's slick to the touch, the PTFE will help keep your car looking cleaner for longer with its anti-stick properties. Excellent beading and water behavior with Taurus wax and durability of around 4-6 months."

Have not used Taurus, but there was an interesting thread on DW between lots of people about the addition of PTFE in waxes. Both Jay from Obsession Wax and Angel Wax stated that from their testing it is unable to be mixed into the blend successfully due to suspension or something. The only thing it helped with was application. I will try and find it for you when i get home, DW is blocked on work computers :(

 

It was a very interesting thread as that would make claims by waxes such as this and SV Shield for example pretty much redundant.

 

That said ive heard very good reviews about it, but i am now very sceptical of a wax that advertises 'non stick' properties due to PTFE.

As you say - SV Shield springs to mind, and that's initially why I thought that Taurus might be a cheaper option, but same idea.

 

I might ping Stevie at BMD in the background and see what he will disclose; but might not be much.

 

The PTFE element was also a big thing with the Fusso coat releases as well, if I recall correctly.

Yes - an interesting read for sure.

 

Lots of info - but less certain conclusions....

It will be interesting to see what comes out of the testers. Hopefully the guys will remember to update.  

 

Shame none of the guys who product PTFE waxes commented. Although, they may be holding a closely guarded secret!
