Central locking failure

Featured Replies

A strange incident happened on Friday last week.  I came back home and tried to lock the car using the remote as usual.  Wouldn't do anything although the fob red light was happily flashing.  So I then locked the car manually with the key, successfully.

Now the "fun" bit.  I then tried to unlock the car using the remote and the key.  Nothing!  I was stumped; searched this website to no avail.  So I had to resort to calling out Skoda Rescue to look at my 6 month old 1.4 L&K.

The technician asked me all the questions I'd asked myself.  He was stumped and said, "This may take some time"!

Indeed it did, after well over halk an hour of lying under the car he managed to open the bonnet and isolate the battery.  This reset everything and the next hour or so, he went through full diagnostics, but nothing.  He was honest enough to admit he didn't know what caused it.

Anyone else been through this challenge?  Skoda would like to know as well I would guess.

So is it fixed now Steve ?

Very strange. Did you try your other key?

I have the same model L&K Yeti so this is quite a concern - given that we often venture far from the beaten track.  In the Manual under 'Failure of the locking system' it states: If the warning light in the driver's door initially flashes quickly for around 2 seconds, and then lights up for 30 seconds without interruption before flashing again slowly, you will need to seek the assistance of a specialist garage. Not very helpful!

Especially if the owners manual is locked in the glovebox of the car when you experience the issue!  .... although I guess you are supposed to have committed the entire tomb to memory before you ever venture out in the car!

You are correct, I'm getting really sick of spell checkers!

No need to commit to memory. Just carry the manual as a .pdf file on your cell.
