Not had it on mine (9.5 months old), but I'm assuming you've got KESSY and I haven't... :p

Nope... SE Business with manual key.

Well 2 further start ups and no error now..

Nope... SE Business with manual key.

I stand corrected - I had assumed that a recharging key was a bit more technical than a standard key so assumed KESSY.  You haven't had the key somewhere cold that might have affected the battery?  I see it seems to have gone away for now from your follow up post.

Key was in the house over night , and then on desk at work, so not in a cold environment.

Reading the octy section.. There's also a few posts on there regarding the same

Change the battery to a larger CR2032 and see how you get on.

These key batteries have an operating life of anywhere between 4-18 months, not ideal but there's a lot going on in there.

Car is in the dealer for a few faults to be resolved.. this been one of them.

Advised by the dealer that the key battery is fine but has been replaced plus software update. To monitor and report if reoccurs.

Issue only happens when car is cold < 5'c i think

Currently have  it on my Superb MkIII.  Changed the battery and fine but re-occured two weeks later and on checking spare keys doing with them also.  Will change the battery again and see what happens.

Mrs just had same with her fob ,car 20 mnths old, just swopped to one of the 2 spares ,all fine now .

Same happened to me today. Swapped it out using the brilliant guide from @digifish (thanks again) which is a sticky in the Superb guide section. Five minute job and working perfectly again. Two and a half years duration, used almost every day at least twice a day.

One of my key fobs died about 4 days ago. Changed battery for a new one which had 3.2 v (old one had 2.9v) did not work. Just come back from dealers who said both batteries were flat (funny how one worked)

They then told me they don't work unless you use  Skoda 2025 batteries. The one i took out was a panasonic and replaced with a panasonic so something amiss here. Vehicle is 18 months old but they still charged nearley £9 for replacements. Has anybody had same problem.

Bob, I hate to tell you this - but your dealer is telling you porkies! Provided they are fresh, any reputable make of 2025 battery cell will work in the key-fob - some owners have managed to fit a larger-capacity 2032 cell.

Thanks for reply Warrior193.

I know they were not being truthfull but what do you do, nearest other dealer is twice distance away. They will not be recommended by me and when guarantee runs out will find elswhere to go

Interesting. I got the warning yesterday, so swapped the battery from a spare fob to the main one. Both were 2032 Panasonic, and as far as I am aware both were OEM (I bought the car ex-demo at 6 months old). Mine is a 2017 L&K with KESSY. I've just fitted a Duracell 2032 in the spare I took the Panasonic from, but haven't had chance to test it yet.

ETA: just tested it and it works perfectly.

Original battery lasted almost 3 years. Changed it myself to a Duracell and that's only lasted about a year. Changed to another Duracell last week so I'll see how far that goes.

Otherwise I'll have to go buy a genuine Skoda battery 😂

At the nearly £9 a throw quoted to Bob, maybe the Skoda battery cells are made using quantities of precious metals - like "Skoda oil"

What is all the fuss about? same on the Karoq pages! battery will fail in all things after a time whatever it is, just replace them.

Around £6 for 8 on Amazon for Duracell , I got 2x4 packs of 2025 and 2032 Energiser posted to me for £4.67.

As easy to change as doofer battery.

Pretty annoying, however, for a dealer believing owners are green enough that they will buy "superior", overpriced "Skoda" battery cells
