Protection pack and autoglym treatment for £300?

Featured Replies

Indeed it can be when someone is doing it properly, if they are not having to do many pre registrations and delivery and 1 every 60 minutes would not get many done,

or even 2 somebodies taking 20 minutes just doing it were as they need to prep the car anyway for delivery.

I'd rather spend £300 on Clean Your Car or Polished Bliss' website and then spend a few hours on youtube, detailing world, clean your car forum, etc.  That way you have some decent kit that will last a few years and you'll have the know how to clean/detail your car properly and keep it looking it tip top condition for years to come.

AG produts are very mediocre at best but the guy applying these lifeshine kits will either be the valet monkey who doesn't give a f**k or a subcontracted detailer who is getting paid by the car/hour so can't apply said mediocre products properly.  Thus they are a waste of time and are just another form of GAP insurance, where dealers can up their commission.

Buy a man a fish and you'll feed him for a meal, buy him a DAS6 pro and some Chemical Guys products and he can spend 7 hours on the driveway, every Sunday

To be fair that was back in the winter. You'd have to wash your car 2 or 3 times a week where I live to keep it clean.

Presumably you're decontaminating the paint before claying? IronX, tar remover etc?

Not if it's on the drive, water table and local rules means strong chemicals are out. Not even convinced it's 100% legal... which is also why snow foam is out. I use the bilt hamber clay which has been very good until now and it's a massive advantage to not need detailer, just water.

I could probably optimize some more if I tried but the experience so far says there's not much point as we'll scratch the paintwork over winter anyway with ice, so it's about damage limitation rather than anything else. The older vehicles seem to do well with the process.

As mentioned I am sure it's all to do with the application, autoglym products are actually pretty good.

Saying that just picked up new Octavia VRS and got the lifeshine for free but suspected it had not been done, also had chewing gum on one of the mats. Emailed dealer and they can back straight away. Will pick up car, change mats, revalet and reapply lifeshine. Still not sure whether it was done in first place but got to say the after care service by Aldershot Skoda is awesome

So if they can make the Sale / pre sale procedure as good as the After Sales then customers might be sorted from the off rather than having to come back other for servicing....
