Sold my Octavia.

Featured Replies

Well I'm dropping from a three Skoda Owner down to a two Skoda owner.

I've been looking at changing for a while, the Octavia is a bit small and light for what I need as I do quite a bit of caravanning.

The Octy has always been economical but without the tuning box I didn't find it powerfull enough and the roadnoise and engine noise at high speed always bugged me. All my Skoda's have been faultless and the Fabia and Felicia continue to be so but I've had my fair share of problems with the Octavia.

I would have loved a Superb 130TDi Elegance but the length meant I wouldn't fit it in my Garage. I looked at a Passat but the old shape is too boring to drive and the new shape too expensive at the moment.

Looking at the new Octavia the 2.0TD Elegance was tempting but the weights are still a little on the light side for what I'm after.

So I've bought a 2005 Mondeo 130TDCi, 6 Speed, Ghia. I used to own a V6 GhiaX a few years back and also get a few Mondeo's for hire cars through work and they do drive nice. I'll just have to take my luck with the reliabilty and dealers although my cousin is the service manager at my local Ford Dealer.

So the Octy goes next week but at least I still have the Furby and Felicia to drive. ;)

I'll have Dragon Tuning Box and a genuine set of Skoda Roof Bars in the For Sale section soon as well.

Cheers

Sounds like a good choice Lee

How do the kerbside weight and maximum braked towing weight compare for the 2 cars? I enjoyed driving the new Mondeo when it first came out and it should be a nice car for towing.

Is the Mondeo smaller than the Superb?! I parked up next to one the other day and was surprised how similar the two cars were in length!

Good choice though ;)www.fordmondeo.org is an excellent resource if you haven't stumbled across it already :D

From memory,

Octavia 1.9TDi Elegance, Kerb weight 1405kg- Max Braked Trailer Weight 1300kg - Max Nose Weight 60kg

Mondeo TDCi Ghia 130PS, Kerb Weight 1531kg - Max Braked Trailer Weight 1800kg - Max Nose Weight 75kg

I'll be towing around 1425kg.

Mondeo length is 4731, Superb is 4803.

I could just get a Rover 75 in the Garage if the bumpers were touching the wall and the door and they are 4765mm.

I'll have to have a detachable towbar on the Mondeo for it to fit in the garage.

I'm already registered with MEG. :)
