What Rev Range ?

Featured Replies

Hi there

Quick reminder of me --

Had Otv for 10 days now (530 miles to date)

Question, what rev reange is the engine most responsive in ?

What revs would be considered labouring the engine ?

In the manual it mentions trip 1 and 2 for the computer thingy.

O am unable to get the trop 2 up (i.e. total mpg since had car)

How do you change between the 2 ? I tried twisting and pressing the black trrip button 2 no avail ?

Howver i did manage to change the time today re the hour back thing.

Also, enjoyed immensely kicking the butt of a astra coupe over the weekend !! (SOME PEOPLE) Didn't even work Olivia to her full potential .

Press the button under the stalk briefly to change from Trip 1 to 2 and vice versa. Pressing and holding it in for at least 1 second either zeros the Trip memory selected, or both Trip memories, depending on model and year.

Edited twice to amend the second sentence.

Many thanks good people!

Any thoughts on questions re rev range and labouring ?

I would consider driving around at or close to idle , then flooring it in the same gear labouring. eg. 5th gear round town at 30mph then trying to speedup quickly without changing gear.

otv - octy vrs. most responsive from about 2500 rpm to around 5500 rpm with the rev limiter coming in at 7000rpm.

Max torque is available between 1950 and 5000rpm - if that helps.

On mine, pressing in and holding the reset button zeroes BOTH registers.

Re rev ranges - the turbo really starts doing its stuff around 2500 rpm, and tails off after 4000 - so within that range is the best torque. Just drive it where it feels comfortable. If it sounds right, it probably is ... :D

Sorry, Nick! I didn't mean you to delete Trip 2. I have amended my post in the light of your experience. :(

I'm not concerned - I don't worry too much about saving the data, but I thought others might - hence the warning.

On mine, holding the reset button only resets trip 1 - i've never managed to reset trip 2 :(

Oh and I find the engine most responsive between 3.5k - 6.5k revs :D

Disconnecting one of the battery terminals does this, though you also need to reset your clock afterwards... :)

Rob.

To reset.....select either [1] or [2] then hold the button down (on the under side of wiper stalk) until clear....to clear both just repeat on the other store.

I guess different model years = different variations. I can assure you mine works as I described.

I don't feel so bad after all! I've amended my earlier post yet again to include both possibilities... :)

I've found if you hold in button 1 and switch off the ASR whilst blipping the throttle at the same time the hole in the silver band round the speedo glows red and then you crash........You muppets. :D

Oh and get a bl00dy charger for your 'phone!

:D
