Factory xenon lights

Once again not from Skoda experience, but my 2000MY VW Passat 4Motion, used to perform some sort of "calibration" routine when the HIDs were switched on, maybe fully down then up to level. My 2011 Audi S4 also does that.  Wife's late 2015 VW Polo does something similar (I think) and it has LED lights.

Mine dont self level, didnt think the MK1 Xenons did self levelling as such.  If you use the adjuster to move them up and down do they move?  If so you might need to undo the bolts on the headlight while the adjuster is set in the middle and straighten or if its only a small amount I think there are turning adjusters on the top on each side of the headlight, that are allen key operated off the top of my head.

Sensor on the rear beam automatically adjusts the headlight beam. I.e. If you have heavy objects in the boot, the rear of the car compresses which in effect points the nose of the car up. The rear beam sensor measures this level of compression and automatically adjusts the headlights to ensure your lights don't dazzle oncoming vehicles.

If fitted from factory, when you start your car up, your headlights should perform the little 'up and down' check to ensure this functionality is working.

The fact yours isn't means somethings not quite right.

Personally if I were you, I'd take the car to garage specialising in VAG cars (basically a decent garage that use VCDS) of which is also an MOT centre. VCDS will be required to align the headlights (it would hopefully find the source of the fault aswell!), and being an MOT centre they will also be able to put your car on the lens's they use to align headlights to ensure they are set correctly.

Granted, this will probably involve spending money, but when it comes to headlights and beam setting it's one of those situations where you simply need the right kit to do the job properly!

If the car is lowered you need to reset the lights with vcds or they will think the car is heavily loaded and point down at the road.

Lofty off here has done his as he has a full version of VCDS :)

If your car has a manual headlight adjuster then the lamps aren't factory fit.
