Upgraded clutch

Featured Replies

Does anyone know where I can get an upgraded clutch for a vRS? Must be road friendly & slightly cheaper than the

Sachs. JBS charge arounf £700 inc fitting.

PM Xavier. He has one.

Same. JBS is where i will be eventualy getting mine from.

To be exact 711.10 inc VAT & fitting ;) - I asked about this a little while back and it's apparently really good :D

Upgraded clutch is on my list................................my never-ending list!

 - avoid looking at my posts within the JBS forum section then :D

I'm kinda starting to scare myself on how much I'm spending, but I want a reliable car in addition to getting a bunch of extra power, and I'm only doing this the once.

All good fun :D

Be carefull what clutch spec you go for, a friend has "lost faith" in his Sachs clutch (organic) at 290lb/ft and only 1500 miles. May be a duff one but Sachs are not prepared to enter into warranty negotiations.

Others have had good results with different plates.

Can't fault JBS 400 lb/ft Kevlar clutch - It will take some serious clucth dumping abuse and hasn't faltered once for me. Cost me £600 all in. My engine & box were apart anyway, so it was only a matter of "shoving it back in" once I got it back through the post. :D

Admittedly you're talking about a car being off the road for a week or more whilst the DMF is machined down, but in my case it was very much worth it. ;)

Xavier has but it's not from JBS and it was cheaper, Impossible Performance as I recall.

Hello Des

Be carefull as what has been said on here there are differnt specifications.

I fully agree.

But the petrol ones do not seem to be as good as the diesel ones.

I would reccoment this clutch to my mother it is that good.

The Kevlar one as quoted does seem to be better on the diesels too.

We have also been doing some testing on a 540lb/ft clutch for the petrols too.

Another doubter for sachs clutch, supposed to be rated to 318 lb/ft yet was slipping on a petrol producing a peak of 310 lb/ft, Flywheel was in perfect condition before fitting and all bedding in procedures were adhered to ~ and more.

This was on a Seat, but also on vwvortex there are a few haters

Most of the pertol ones have now been taken off the market.

It was something to do with the pressure plate.

If I was you I would get in touch with Sachs and see if they will do anything for you.

They do know that there is an issue.

Sarah,

Just a couple of questions:-

The Sachs clutch is £711 fitted, how much is the JBS Kevlar clutch fitted?

I believe the flywheel has to be in perfect condition for the Kevlar clutch to be fitted. Is the same with the Sachs one?

Thanks,

Jon

As I'm spending a small fortune getting the Quaife + Sachs clutch fitted, would you in that case recommend not going for the Sachs Organic one but a different one, say the Kevlar based option?
