Spare Wheel or Not?

Featured Replies

Interestingly while in Skye for Christmas our friends had a puncture on their smax - no spare wheel and the gloop failed to fix the tyre.

We were in a remote area of the island with no phone signal. Called the AA (from a local's cottage home phone) and it took them 5 hours to get there. No "universal spare wheel" on board - they had to be flatbed recovered off Skye to the Scottish mainland for a new tyre to be fitted (and they were incredibly lucky as there was only ONE tyre of the right size in any of the repair centres within 100 mile radius).

The puncture occurred at 4pm. They finally got back to the cottage we were staying (about 25 miles away) at 2am the following morning.

Given the choice between no spare & carrying a spare... I'd go for the latter.

Yep,me too -  those pesky "chance in a thousand" events seem to happen in the most inconvenient place and time. Sods Law I guess.
