Maintenance stand / jack...

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Could do with a maintenance stand for the bike as need to do a few things such as sprockets and chain changes.

Bike is around 230kg ish, and needs adjustable level lift parts, as on the bike, the right side frame is 1 inch higher on the bottom, so cannot use a flat topped jack if that makes sense.

Any recommendations?

Cheers.

Abbas stand.

Fits to the swingarm pivot bolts.

Not as cheap as a conventional paddock stand but easier to use on your own.

As above. Abba stands are great.

Dead easy to operate on your own with loads less risk of dropping than a paddock stand.

Don't want to fill the topic with pics, but look below a couple of threads and it's in "My Honda Bobber".

Ooh yeah. Sorry. Didnt realise that was yours :D.

Hmm. I see the problem now....

My Uncle has a similar problem on a Harley and uses one of these.

He then has a wooden "H" bracket made out of plywood that slots over the frame of the lift to compensate for the height difference. The top of the H bracket is only shallow only to allow the frame tube to sit in with the bottom part deeper and cut to go over the bike lift.

The lift is quite bulky though which isn't a problem with his double garage but other may struggle. You may be able to achieve the same thing with a trolley jack but I would have a frame welded up if doing so with drop down legs for stability.

You other option is to use paddock stands. I've never had a problem with them in the past and have a set of these in the garage that I used on a previous bike. Not sure what the load rating is but I've had the previous KTM SM 990, around 190KG and I've been sat on it at the same time so well over 250KG

I didn't it was an eBay suggestion after finding the same type paddock stands I have so just a lucky link, cheap too.

That's the same as what I've been looking at previously, alot on Amazon have decent reviews, it's purely for lifting the bike, not keeping it up overnight etc.

Thats what Viagra's for :D

The guys at abba are generally very helpful - I'd give them a call before resorting to cheap ebay tin foil!
