Where did this trim come from?

Featured Replies

Just got a new Yeti Outdoor and after running it for a day I found this trim in the passenger footwell. The doors have all been opened a few times so it's potentially from the outside but I couldn't locate it at all. It appears to have glue on the back and two round locating features. Any ideas what it is?

Also is the outer plastic trim at the back of the roof rails normally so loose? It came away hand washing the car

Thanks

I think the trim is from the inside of the door handle! I.e. Inside the car on the rear of the chrome pull handle!

Thanks for the help - that's the bit. Was totally non-obvious!

Now to decide whether it can just be glued back on or if the dealer should replace the handle as it's a new car

One of mine fell off, a couple of dabs of impact adhesive and it's been no further problem.

Loose roof rail trim has been raised here before (or possibly on YOC?).

I remember reading about it at the beginning of the year when I was clueing up before my new Yeti was delivered in April.

Although I have been watching out for it, thankfully the issue has not arisen.

Not wishing to tempt fate, I have not attempted to take the trim off just to see how it is actually located

so guessing that the trim might have been knocked on crookedly in the first place, distorting lugs/pins is a pure guess.

If a dab of contact adhesive is not an easy fix, it's back to the dealer. It's a new car after all, so you shouldn't be sticking it back together within the first few days (or years for that matter!)

Coo: - I'm impressed!

Are you going to wash it every day?

So for the door handle the dealer want to replace the whole unit. First they've seen and they'd rather a replacement under warranty.

The roof rail trim seems a little better having replaced it so perhaps it wasn't fully clipped in.

As for washing, maybe once a week. Wanted to get it clean after the motorway drive home and get some Rain-X on to it. Unfortunately I think I bought Some sort of rain dance instead and it has poured down from the moment I got the soap on!

Have also bought mud flaps which should help a little

You will not have to glue them back if they are bolted on ok

The roof caps are a known problem, lost 2 on my Yeti and dealer spoke with Skoda UK who advised that they 'affix' them - basically glued them on! No problems since

I found exactly the same bit.

Spent a while trying to find where it came from.

Couldn't so binned it.

Checked all the door handles when out earlier today.

Turns out the rubber I found must have been a spare one coz they're all there.
